I used to dream about 20 yr old college girls.

Last night I dreamed about chiller controls, I don't even work on chillers. WTF?

Today, I rode my motorcycle. We went 200 miles together. Just the two of us. The weather was perfecto. The ride was familiar, but amazing. I was in my zen, and I knew it at the time.

I had to stop and take a couple of pictures. Me thinks I might write about it.

Stay thirsty, my friends......

I removed the bolt at the bottom of the rear shock, (rear of the linkage), the one in the middle of the linkage, and the one that holds the rear/upper end of the dog bones on. Liberally lubed those, and forced lube into the voids under pressure. It was a little sketchy but turned out okay.

Now the front one, the one you have to remove the centerstand to get to, will nag at me until it and the centerstand have been done. I have neither the skill nor the stomach to tackle that one myself.

Bill - surely you know that chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. The one behind the centerstand bolts.

If I can do it, surely you can.

Can you find the pictures I posted on that?

Bill,

I took to this guy's solution. He did some great work, for my needs. If he still does the Relay Arms, you might consider it also. It's a great idea, no matter who can do the work for you.
Shoot the man a PM, and see what shakes out.

If he still does that work, he may have a Relay Arm there ready to sell, or you can either send your Relay Arm to him, or buy one used somewhere for him to fix. Either way, he would rebuild it completely with new bearings and the Zerk fittings, for an easy mod on your FJR. Just a thought . . .

Ahh, my neighbor. Yes he does good work, in spite of being a mechanical engineer ;) He is highly recommended. My FJR is wearing several parts that he has made for me.

Bill,

Hey, never put yourself down, man. The world has volunteers on staff who will do this for anybody, at no charge.

Ignore the flak. Don't you believe it, either. They wouldn't say that $#!t if they knew you better.

Merry Christmas!

Rode 20 miles until a friend’s new used BMW quit running. Rode home. Hitched trailer to the Subaru. Rescued stranded BMW. 4 hours.

Regardless of how you go about it, either existing or new zerk fitted relay arm, you still have to get the centerstand off to swap it out. The good/bad news is that front bolt is up high and kinda mostly dry, but eventually it will need attention. With the right skyhook or device made to lift the ass end of the bike, it can be done. I have one on the slate for next spring......
Note, do not lift the bike from the seat bracket, it can break.

The front bolt is in the spray. My front bearing was one dry and bad when disassembled at 55k. I changed them all.

Bill - I can walk you through it.

Rode it to go vote. Came home and tried unsuccessfully to find the torque value for the sidestand bolt. Was going to remove, clean, reinstall, but virtually no mention in the fsm aside from testing the associated switch.

I believe the FSM says in the absence of a printed torque spec for a given bolt, you use the chart/reference for that size bolt. And then they list the values for the various sizes.

in sub lingo: tighten it with an LB (Little Bump) and check it 3 days later.

Very different from a BB or a cheater bar. Of course, the LB is tighter than finger tight or an RCH.

Wow, you ain't kidding, the 2016-up manual has been pared way down.....
From 2013-4 manual, side stand nut 42 ft. lbs.
I would say if this is not a locking nut, use some loctite in a situation like this.

Eh, still she sits. Yet, I had to run my wife and son across town for some errands, which placed me right near a guy on Two Wheeled Texans that got a new bike and his set of brand new BT31's won't fit so he had them for sale for $150. Yes please.
