Check it out..... it's not hard. Emissions requirements are the same. As long as the bike exists in the US, you can import it. To keep taxes down, I give you a nice discounted bill of sale, as you are importing a used vehicle. I don't think you can import a new one.

My All-Knowing and Powerful crystal ball says that the FJR will be back in it's current form for 2026.
Support for my thesis:
1) In the only two markets that they have discontinued the FJR; Europe in 2020, and Japan in 2022, they made a big deal about it and it being the end of an era and sent it off with a bang - releasing the 'final edition' model black with the gold stripe and wheels. I can't see them not doing the same thing here for the North American market. This market was just too big and they sold too many to let it just fade away. And thus far their only history is to conclude production in a market with a big send off. It is logical they would do the same here.
2) Other than that little footnote in the press release, they made no major mention of it. And I still don't read that as being permanent. The wording can easily mean just for 2025.
3) They are still selling it in Canada and maybe Australia (Aussie website shows MY24 model). And perhaps other markets? I don't know. But since they are still producing it for 2025 in *some* markets, producing it again in 2026 is easy enough to do. Supply chains with all the major and 2nd and 3rd tier suppliers still continue for 2025.
4) If you were like me and have no life and spend needless hours perusing ads on Craigslist, FB Marketplace, and CycleTrader than you would know there are still a lot of unsold 2023 and 2024 FJRs out there. Considering the economics of that for Yamaha and their dealers it makes total sense that they would just skip a year of production. Let that unsold inventory meet the limited demand and get it sold and off the dealer's floor. Produce it again when there is no longer the glutt of inventory.
So I am fairly confident in my prediction that the FJR will be back for 2026. What will be interesting to see if it will be the announced 'Final Year' with a big send-off and the special Black and Gold edition.........

I think your statement in #4 above explains it. Lots of 23 and 24's unsold, means not much demand for the product in N.A.. If there is a surge of interest for the bike in 25, maybe they'll go to a pre-order process to control excess production. But, I think that is reaching for straws.

They already did the Black and Gold in Canada in 2022 but we still got bikes in 2023-25. What will we get in 2026?

Jasen's bike is the AE not the far superior Black Cherry Pearl and I know how a clutch works version that you're trying to disparage.

That would have to be just about the first time in history if my searching is accurate. I wouldn't put too much money on that bet. Only time I can find it happening is from a Honda in Australia but it was related to govt regulations.

I am not sure what you are getting at? The last year for the FJR in the Euro market they had the option of the Black FJR with black frame (same as 2018/2019) and the gold stripe on the tank and gold wheels. The exact same color scheme they offered for the last year of the Japanese market.

I'm asking, as a general question, are there any times in history where any motorcycle company has stopped importing a bike into a country for 1 year and then released it back into the country the next year (as you are suggesting). While not "A" bike, but take a look at what Suzuki did for 2010 because of the economic downturn and too many leftover models.

Went to a Yamaha dealer today to get some yamalube and filter.
While I was there I noticed the sales manager was free. So I walked over and asked about the FJR. Basically he said that he does not believe the FJR is done. He seemed to think they sell enough units generally. He said his dealership actually does well selling FJRs. He declined to say how many. It is his belief that there are just too many 2023 and 2024 in the pipeline for Yamaha to start building 2025s. He said there would probably be an announcement later, maybe even in the spring. He thinks there will be a 2025 model.
