Like gas was 31c/gallon in 1973...no affect...just a reference.
Just as another point of reference here is what John Deere thought I was worth in 1973...
Before any of you smartasses comment this was just a pure case of nepotism as my dad worked for John Deere and I had just finished 1st year of university licking rocks (Geophysics).

Unlike Wheatey, I do not want to shit in this thread but I gotta ask... WTF is the "Recreation Fund" deduction?

We paid $2.50/liter in Muncho Park.
I learned last night and today that in Canada “occasional showers” means rain every F-ing second in every F-ing possible place. Tough people these Canadians.

Awesome trip report John!
Question on bugs. Being from Florida obviously I have bug encounters. However, they have ten months to feed on us. So they can be bad,but generally a little deet keeps them at bay. Do the bugs that have a few months to feed just dive right in past anything like that and fatten up for the winter?

Our route today, right at 500 miles, was designed to get us within two easy days of CFR at Nakusp. We will compete in the dirtiest bikes competition.
The weather was okay when we departed Fort Nelson
And was generally good as far South as Fort St John were we turned South and West on BC 29.
Fort Nelson to Fort St John was a generally unremarkable ride scenery wise, 200 miles of this stuff. We had a rabbit out in front of us for the first 100 miles, a ten wheel dump truck running 75-80 mph.
But as we approached the turn one could weather in the distance.
After gassing at the corner we headed down 29 following the Peace River Valley which was under construction.
The weather became more threatening
And then cut loose
Two drowned rats arrived at the Prince George BC Econolodge.
Suits are drying, we just finished our supper- not photo worthy but close, hot and cheap.
Tomorrow a shorter run, five hours, to Kamloops.

Competition my ass! You win it is just a matter of which of you on this adventure wins.
Here is a better idea. Put your bike next to ~G's bike - as you know his bikes are always super clean. Be quick about it cause ~G might move his bike. The photo will win the 2023 Calendar Contest guaranteed.

I agree, this is a fine ride report. As a Canuck I can inform you that once you leave the sub-tropics of Canada (also referred to as Southwestern Ontario) the mosquitos are required by Transport Canada to be equipped with landing lights. The other delightful nuisance that will drive even the moose insane are the black flies. Industrial strength Deet is your friend.
To answer the question about the Recreation Fund it paid for the ice time at the local rink where we would go and play hockey after work and attack your fellow worker with hockey sticks. It was a great stress relieving exercise.

Today's route -
We left Prince George about 0900 and it was dry for the moment.
We had several intermittent showers before we reached Quesnel where we stopped for a spot of breakfast and coffee at a local bakery. It rained like he'll while we were there and the cameras were all in the tank bags - sorry no food porn.
After leaving Quesnel the Skies became more threatening
but the rain held off until we made the turn East on 24 at 100 Mile House. Not long after the turn we encountered heavy hail both from the sky and on the road. A truck had preceded us clearing the road surface enough for us to continue to ride but as the hail stones got larger they hurt! Thankfully we ran out from under the hail cloud and the sun came out. Life was good, until at the point marked A on the route we stopped for dewatering and fuel. The cloud caught up with us and once again it started to hail.
The arrival of the hail interrupted Skooter's refueling routine. He had removed his tank bag and opened the tank but hail was entering the tank so he moved to a pump under cover. A few miles down the road Skooter realized he had left his tank bag on the pump. We returned to the "scene of the crime"! Yes, CRIME!
Some ass holes in a Suzuki Viagra espied said tank bag and misappropriated it, the video system at the gas station caught the bastards in the act but the hail interfered with the picture enough to prevent getting a clear picture of their license plate. Tweaker Scum!
After spending an hour we hit the road sans tank bag only to run into a long pilot car for Daryl, Daryl, and Daryl filling the cracks in the road with tar and gravel. We were fourth in line behind a F350, SUV towing a trailer filled with mulch and a Toyota. As we approached the end of the construction zine the F350 put on his left turn signal, the SUV towing the trailer moved into the left lane and began to overtake the F350. We slowed to watch as the F350 turned into the SUV/Trailer driving the SUV into the ditch.
We didn't hang around for the fireworks.
Heading South on CA 5 we had a nice rabbit all the way into Kamloops.
We are staying in the Thompson Research University Conference Center in a dorm room suite.
Ez run to Nakusp tomorrow. We will leave later in the morning to let the rainy weax get ahead of us as the forecast is better later in the day.

For Pete’s sake. We can’t leave you boys alone for a minute without you getting in trouble. Now I suppose Skooter is going to claim my tent pegs and $50 were in the tankbag….. just my damn luck.
The adults are in Radium Hotsprings for the night. Home tomorrow.

I wouldn't be too concerned about the weather tomorrow.. looks good to me. Cooler (15C-ish or so), no sprinkles on the way to Nakusp.... see ya there.

That's chicken crap, re: tank bag. If I lost my tank bag, I'd lose a lot, most noteworthy would be my camera and all photographs taken to that point (priceless).
Pisses me off, man....

Man, I put all my eggs in one basket. Wallet, phone, hat, glasses, gun(if in legal area) are all in my tank bag.
Serious problem to lose that.
We carry them in to restaurants even bathrooms on fuel stops if one of us is not watching the bikes.

Phone and wallet stay on my person so should I have a get-off and am separated from my bike, I can hopefully call for help or if not, at least I can be identified..... I wear my glasses....

Spousal Unit and I arrived back at the Outpost. Have the grandkids tomorrow and flooring installers on Tuesday. Lots of stuff to move.
Thanks to BigJohn and Skooter for their patience in putting up with me on my new rig. I know it was particularly trying for Skooter but they were both great riding partners for Annie and me.
