Did someone actually go 100 mph in first gear to test that data?

Honestly on my 2013 I have never really tested the data for the low gears.

I have noticed that at 4000 rpm in 5 gear my bike is going 74 on the odometer. 72 on the GPS.

I thought they relaxed the higher gears in the 2013-2015 bikes too?
I thought I remember something about that when I went from a 2008 to my 2014.....and yeah, 5th was less RPM's at same highway speeds.

Not sure how 2015 compares to the 2016 six speed.

Not enough to matter to change bikes, but it was a difference if I recall.

A 190 rear tire will even those numbers up for you.

Chart is theoretical values for given rpm. Rev limiter @ 9200 rpm will cut in limiting your first gear speed.
There is also no compensation for wind drag, etc.
No changes took place to transmission or final drive ratios 2006-2015.
Yes 190/55 rear tar will definitely change things.

I hate when the rev limiter kicks in on a long pass. Maybe I need one uh dem fancy 190 tars.

Coupla fellers I know swear to 140 mph (225 kph) in west Texas. Moderate headwinds made it difficult to go faster, they reported. All 5-speed models, but Ray’s tables indicate not much above that speed with a 6-speed version.

My FJR may or may not have seen 155. I had it on my GPS as the top speed for a while. I was running out of room, so shut it down.

When my 2016 was new I took a fish scale to the clutch lever. Then again to a friend's 2014. Found the 2016 to be about 75% of the pull of a 2014. Keep in mind this was a terribly unscientific measurement. The difference is noticeable but easy to miss. Ride one for 10,000 miles and you will notice the other immediately.

Just an FYI
The Dealer showed me his cost on the 2018A
$14,320. On his computer screen
He said he is probably loosing money or coming in flat on .thr dral

He said he did my deal to turn the old stock

His sister dealer company store didn't want to let it go at below cost.
He sold it from his store, with free transport from the sister corporate store 4 hours away.

So now you have a cost point to work a number from

I can’t dispute this factually, but I highly doubt this was his ACTUAL cost. At any rate, this doesn’t account for hold back and other sellers incentives.

It’s possible that inventory was on consignment.

They don’t stay in business selling bikes below their cost.

The dealer is still making a gross profit on this sale. I dont know what it is today, but Holdback was 3% of cost when I was in the business, and there is undoubtedly some Yamaha Dealer Credit/Cash to the dealer to reduce his cost and help him move this old inventory. If he has had this bike since 2018 you have to offset the hold back and incentives with his cost of holding the bike for 2 plus years.

I have no doubt that at 2 years on the showroom (assuming it is uncrated) my local dealer could not tell me. And free transport (it would cost me over $100 in fuel to go get it in my truck and come back not to mention losing 8 hours driving)ALL Hold back is gone.
He just said 0 miles and 0 fluids and would give me a new battery if needed..
I hope it's still in the crate.

He did make the typical dealer profit on assembly and dealer fees

Of about 800 i am guessing.

Like i said. Not a smokin deal and probably no better than D and H in 2018.. but still well under retail plus fees

$13,999 seems like a good value to me. I'm sure there is some Yamaha Dealer Credits coming back to the dealer once the bike is sold and warranty registered. The definition of a good deal is "a deal where both parties are happy".
