Just came across this. Sorry to hear about the wreck, but good on ya for riding ATGATT-style, and glad it wasn't worse.

I do agree with the comments about slowing down and not pushing the risk factor as the years advance. None of us need any "extra" aches and pains. Sounds like the worst thing that happened to you was losing the ability to distinguish between good news and bad news.

Bit of an update.
Bike was toast as expected, but the insurance gave me exactly what I had it insured for. Managed to get a few farkles off the unit before it was taken away, so I guess I will have a few goodies to offer later.
As it stands now, I would love the new 1300E in 2014, but may just buy another 2009 as the retirement budget is not as plush as during the days I worked. We'll see.....

Just in case you are interested, the following items will probably go up for sale before spring...
PC 'V' with map switch,
Double heat controller plugs and mount with BMW style plugs,
Throttlemiester,
Two Black Suitcases,
OEM exhaust - both sides,
etc......

As to my old bod, all is well> Headaches are finally gone, shoulder allows pushups...which I so enjoy....and management says I am not near the grump I had been.....Was that a compliment??

Ahhh crap. Glad you're okay. It happens fast. One moment you're cruisin', and the next moment you're bruisin'.

So is thera a 2014 in your future?

The 2014 is a great choice. We will see how much I make in the great white north this winter and THEN see how much management allows me to spend. I already have 75% of what I will need sooooo....... :?:
PS....thanks for the kind notes!
