This is the 2024 Event Calendar thread. Not the "make the non-retired people feel like crap" thread.

HMFIC put an exclamation point on it...I had no choice but to obey a direct order....Add events you're aware of here, share your ride plans too!...

Re: 2024 Event Calendar / List
Im not chasing any dollar, but I became burned out late January of last year. Louanne saw it...I told her I was just not going to make it to our goal of age 67/68...so after consulting with our retirement funds manager, I talked with my boss mid-year to start the process. The process is going to be much longer than I want, but my load this year will be much less than it has been. Because of retiring early, we will live frugally except for the massive travel needs I will have in 2024.danh600 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 4:30 pmWhat Pants said!Hppants wrote: ↑Wed Jan 03, 2024 9:37 am Semi-retired was a good time, but FULLY retired is better on an order of magnitude that I didn't realize. Re: 2024 Event Calendar / List
In the spirit fo this, I want to freely admit I am a little jealous.... but you retired guys already know it.
I heard a soundbite the other day that resonated in this thread. "If you have to wait until the weekend or a defined vacation to have fun, you are poor and a slave to the wrong things." It was quickly followed up by the thought some wise person said to me. "There are 2 types of people that have to wait to have fun, Poor and Still working........ I am neither."
I really appreciate this thread. As soon as I get my calendar, I pull it out and write down all the listed dates of the events on it. I also include the mileage to said events from home. It gives me a realsitic "Can I dip out and with the FJR drop the hammer and get there?" measurement.

Re: 2024 Event Calendar / List
Looking back, 2023 ended up having some really good miles in it - not from a quantity perspective, but more from a quality standpoint - but the quantity part was actually pretty decent (for a married, family and working guy...). From the 1911 Memorial Ride, SEO Ramble in the spring to barely any miles through the horse show season summer that ended up with enjoyable miles at EOM and another Wheaton guilt trip ride in October that let me nudge an odometer over the 100,000 mile mark - it was the most enjoyable riding year I've had in some time.
I'm looking forward to 2024 because even though I don't have any grand west coast hops planned, one never knows what could materialize between now and the months ahead.
So I'll be sitting here quietly waiting for spring to arrive...

Re: 2024 Event Calendar / List
I've had this question come up about PM's a ton recently.
PM's sent will show in the senders outbox until that PM is read by the recipient - at that time it will move from the sender's outbox to their sent box.

Right on. I did that back in '18. Wife and I were heading east from Colorado, and saw Farrier heading west on her bike. Me, pointing across the freeway: "I know her! "wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Fri Jan 05, 2024 12:01 pm Hi Patrick...I doubt our paths will cross out west, but I will wave if I see you.

Are there any other events getting planned? Writing my riding wish list up on the calendar.
Meshing it up with my work schedule to see what I can hopefully make.
Tech Day in Owosso? Andy?
