3 weeks left at this point - still not quite a "contest" yet, but it's getting there...

I got one entry in. Picked out some candidates for my second. Getting a proper crop to fit the calendar size is turning out to be giving me more fits than I'd thought to get it just right. I'll have the second one here in a day or two when I have more time to fiddle.

Ring a ding ding ding!!! The cell phone camera, nor the traditional point-n-shoot camera aren't designed for the aspect ratio of the calendar 8 1/2 x 11 paper. This of course is not a dig on the contest or anything of the sort. It is what it is, and if we are going to have a calendar, we have to have this sized paper.
The challenge is finding the compromise between staying far enough away from the subject matter to leave you room to crop, and making sure that you have enough digital data left to make the photograph worth seeing. It's easier with the P-n-S camera because the optics are better. But at least for me, I don't always have my camera with me when that perfect landscape appears. I always have the phone, though.
3rd world problem, I guess....

Waitaminute, are you finally agreeing with me on this subject?

I have a resolution problem. NO, not that kind. Working on it.

I don’t have a choice. If I want to play, I agree to follow the rules. Don’t have to like it, but it is what it is.

I'm confused... your either have a resolution or a problem... doesn't the problem come first, then the resolution?

The aspect ratio I am using is not arbitrary. The calendar prints on an 8.5x11" sheet of paper. In fact, every standard photo size has a different aspect ratio so this issue isn't new. Also photos on a screen that are magnified to the original resolution are quicker to point out flaws and lack of detail on a cropped image than what will translate to a printed photo on a wall hanging 5-10ft away.

Probably not great for a calendar, but will always be my favorite picture of my FJR no matter where it goes in 2021.

If he could get that sweet pavement underneath first…

Well I did get to go to EOM. Also, leaving for SFO tomorrow.
Favorite picture cause I really thought my FJR was going to be stuck for another month or two. Right during the touring season.

The driveway is not paved, has deep ruts and drops off on the edge.
The road to get out to the highway is actually paved. The water is deeper and darker than that. Plus, no painted lines to see the edge.
It's been reported that a rather large alligator has taken to cruising up and down the road.
Hats off to that water crossing. Not sure I would have done that.

All of that sounds like it would make for quite the adventure. Good thing the FJR is a relaxed sport tourer and not an "Adventure Tourer."

I love that there is a secondary wake in the background! Up till now, I never considered a FJR being able to pull a wakeboarder! Great pic.

Updated because reading is difficult, and typing is more difficulter.
14 days left to submit pictures for this year's calendar contest - who knows, maybe you could be Ms or Mr November.
Voting will open on or around November 15th, and run until November 30th, or whenever Tim decides to end it.
