Answer - Ride more get more scratches. At 100k (kms), repaint in the highly desirable root beer or burnt sienna....... Yu're welcome.bungie4 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 3:26 pm I can't look at new FJR, mine just broke 70KM ~ 43K. It's nearing the end of the break in and into the sweet spot that last way past 100K.
I would like to get the scrapes on my cowl and bag fixed. I'd also REALLY f@$king LOVE IT if my kids would stop kicking the saddlebags when they get on and off the bike. The alternative is that they don't ride anymore, I'm not good with that, so it falls into the I'll have to tolerate it category.

Re: 2019 FJR
Ain't that the truth. Tried squeezing around a parking gate and a big white steel bollard last week .... the right-hand hard case slid across the bollard and literally pushed the bike about three inches to the left! Got a nice paint smear now. Might have to clean it off before SFO.
Nah. It doesn't affect handling or gas mileage, so why worry about it?
Also not worth trading it in for a 2019. Boring Blue, eh?

Next time I see that bike I am going to scratch it up so bad you won't mind the girls putting a little love on it!bungie4 wrote: ↑Tue Sep 11, 2018 4:25 pmI have the 3M skin all over the bike including the leading edge/top of the panniers. Usually, the marks rub out with a little detailer and elbow grease. This last time, it was scuffed so hard that they will not rub out. Anyway, I know who did it, she won't be riding again this year (and this happened after I reminded them not to kick the bags)
Quit being a douche bag and take those girls for a ride! It won't be too much longer before they won't WANT to ride on the back with you!!

Re: 2019 FJR
Well I have to admit, I'm surprised.
I thought this thread would be hot as a firecracker with a heated debate over which color would best suit the 2019, which FJR is the best, and of course the obligatory pissing match between Wheatie and Uncle Hud, which we have all grown to love and expect.
But truthfully, there isn't much here. Maybe we are not really that interested. If so, I'd attribute that to satisfaction in our own motorcycles.
Maybe I'll find a way to stir some shit elsewhere....

Re: 2019 FJR
After 16 years...I think people are still interested, but mainly we want to know that they are producing an FJR. They've put everything in there. It's still blazing fast across the country...and still looks sexy.Hppants wrote: ↑Fri Sep 14, 2018 6:10 pm Well I have to admit, I'm surprised.

I would, I don't give a Crap about bootmarks if the younglings are at an age that they give one hoot about riding...it will soon end.

Re: 2019 FJR
Yeah, younguns. When we were young Dad used to let us get on first via driver pegs then scoot back to the passenger ones. Easier on everyone he said and we were light enough that it didn't make any difference getting stood up off the side stand. Plus he always gave us a moment to see how we fit with the handlebars & to imagine the wind when SOMEDAY we could go solo.wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Fri Sep 14, 2018 9:11 pm I would, I don't give a Crap about bootmarks if the younglings are at an age that the give one hoot about riding...it will soon end.

Re: 2019 FJR
I'm hoping for a color that will be irresistible to 2016 or newer FJR-ES owners so they promptly sell their low mileage FJR to me for a song.
Otherwise it's just hard to justify getting a new FJR when my 135,000 mile 2007 is paid for and still running great.

Re: 2019 FJR
Agree, and I'm very serious.
The engine pulls so strongly between 3,000 and 7,000 rpm, they can afford to spread the gear ratios a little. You could still get grunt in first, and hit the sweet spot for MPG in fifth with cruise control at 75 mph.

Re: 2019 FJR
Everytime I hear about how poor that old five-speed is, I just think about how all the big bikes used to be four-speeds, and how it should really FIVE speeds.
I also think about that when I've been running through the gears on twisty and curvy roads in 2nd and 3rd gear...then I shift up to FOURTH on the straightaway.
