I've decided to start downsizing my wife's car each time she does something that shows she doesn't appreciate the value of a dollar. If she can't take care of a WRX she gets a straight CVT Impreza. If she can't manage that, then a used civic.
Bounce,
I like your way of thinking
My wife would be driving a matchbox car!
Hard to enact such measures with 4 kids though. Maybe that is why we have a Toyota Sequoia. It is a behemoth of a SUV
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!
We are now both retired. My daughters are both in their 30s with kids of their own. Going waaay back:
VW Scirocco: Engine dummy light came on so she headed home to have me look at it (45 miles away). It locked up and ruined the motor before she got out of town.
Datsun B210: Drove under a chain draped across a parking lot entry because she had committed to the turn and didn't want to back up. Lucky it didn't peel the roof off the car.
Chevy Celebrity Wagon: Drove with dummy lights on (low oil) motor rebuilt. Drove to another failure that was because it was a crap motor (oil pump failure that wasn't her fault).
WRX: 2 avoidable wrecks (front scraped off by a truck while entering traffic, back whacked as she tried to sneak out into a left turn by tailgating the car in front and cross traffic clipped her.
Impreza CVT hatch (current car): Front suspension folded from hitting a curb when she pull out with sun in her eyes, freaked from seeing a dog and swerved into a curb instead or resigning herself to the fact it was a small dog.
There were others these are just off-the-cuff.
There's a reason I have $0 deductible.
