Any US owners get a hit on their VIN yet? Mine only shows a side "stand switch fault reprogram" which has not yet been completed.

Mine showed nothing this morning but Yamaha rep told me mine was affected!!! He said dealers will be notified tomorrow and letters will go out after that. I have an appointment for Feb 1st at the dealership.

Been checking everyday here.

No matter my E5 VIN is not listed on the NHTSA site, the https://www.yamaha-dealers.com/public/w ... tions.html site says I am due for brake switch and transmission recall. Reflash for sidestand error has been performed.

I didn't edit the link, that how it copied. The 3 dots is just to abbreviate it, but it works as is.

My bike is up for both transmission and brake switch. Dealer knew about the recall, asked me if I had an fjr before I even told him. I’m scheduled for warranty work in feb, if parts are in by then.

I have a warranted bike under recall. I’m double covered. Much better than having a problem and trying to get someone to care.

Yep, mine is listed for all three. Well that sucks. Maybe I'll win a prize.

Well hell, I ended up with two recalls, brake switch and 2nd gear.

Mine came up today. Bringing it to the dealership this week.

Since we know that not all bikes are affected (though it seems that most are), I’m more interested in the 2016-20 bikes that don’t come up for the recall. To see what ranges or attributes those specimens have in common.

So yesterday my dealer called me to confirm my appt, and also told (advised) me to be prepared for a 30~60 day turnaround! F+*+!! They told me they are very busy and they are a small shop so no guarantee that my bike would be worked on 'regularly'. Yamaha has this recall as a 14 hr job by the book.

So today I'll be looking into other Yamaha certified dealers to see what kind of timeline they have.

Most likely a Yamaha dealer can't refuse warranty work, but I think he is discouraging it and in not so many words implying you should go elsewhere. Any competent Yamaha tech can do this, the instructions are fairly clear to anyone familiar with bikes. The job won't be given to the tire guy. I'd get it done before the spring rush. A couple of local dealers here have a few of these under their belt already.
Have my own thoughts about how many are affected, let's just say I'd want mine replaced if I had one.

I'd have an issue with them not starting and finishing the job in a few days. No way I'd want to leave my bike apart for 30-60 days. I had to do it for at least 30 days, waiting for parts, but they'll have the parts. That's a job you want to do as quickly as possible. Not hard, but so many steps, you don't want to get 60 days out and forget exactly what steps you did or didn't do on that bike that's in pieces.

Won't happen that way.... an FJR apart takes up a ton of room, it won't be apart laying around taking up all that space.

I did find another one a bit farther away. They have several shops and they sell and service most Yamaha consumer motor products such as motorsports, marine and generators. He told me that his Gold Star tech is rated "#2 in the country" and he would be the one assigned - and assured me that once they have they parts and the bike is started, aside from pulling away for minor things, he would start and finish the job without interruption.
They are looking into parts availability and will let me know as son as he does so I can make my appt.

I would tell the dealer to set it up as an appointment. No reason why it shouldn't be in one day and out within 48 hours.
As Ray said, a bike apart takes up a lot of room and the odds of something going missing go up quickly the longer the process takes. Not like someone is going to work on it a half hour at a time.
