Upper 60s and sunny today. Nice 250 miles through the countryside with a friend. The FJR is running like a scaled ape!

Stay thirsty, my friends....

70F. No riding, work day. But I walked the dog at lunch in shorts and a T-Shirt. Won't be doing that again for the forseeable future. Going to see single digits this weekend.

Wrong thread,

Could have been placed in the:

Complaint thread.

What did you do to NOT your moto.

What's the weather like.

How did you earn your whiskey/workout thread

Or follow any of Wheaties posts to follow the threadshitting. LOL

Rode it to work for the first time in over 3 weeks. 51 degrees and light rain but forecast calling for 62-65 this afternoon. Might have to take the long way home when I get out.

Took the FJR out for a nice 35 mile ride. It's what we do in Pittsburgh in late January. No heated gear needed. About 55 balmy degrees. Life is good. I would have ridden much longer but I had to work for my brother all afternoon.

Tested the hippo hands rogue model.

The Alcan, while king of coverage, could not stay put at fjr nominal speeds. They’d slowly walk. The rogues, while quite similar in coverage, pretty much held position at 110mph, on a rented fjr, on a closed track, with a professional rider, that I read about in a book.

Accidently cut a wire going to my CC servo cutting the stud's off the hardness lever for the stock rear shock. After scratching my head trying to figure it out I remember what the G-Man said when I found the CC not working. "Go back to the last thing you were messing with".
Spliced it a couple of weeks ago but the weather hasn't been good for testing, so today turned out pleasantly nice so got about 85 or so miles in. Stopped by Skagit Power Sports and drank some of their coffee dreuled on a Blackbird and went home. CC is working and yes sometimes I'm a dummy.
Just a ride thru nice roads, something like this.

After the PNW's freeze-o-geddon the last couple weeks, got the FJR out for 40 (s)miles. Grips on low, low 50's temp and semi-dry roads. Nice January day until the next pineapple express arrives tonight.

After a week of rare weather induced PMS in the deep south, this morning, the big orange ball appears from the southeast. I stood on the driveway, and like a seasoned, self-confident tribesman, closed my eyes and faced the ball in ceremonial worship. Now, don't get confused. Indeed, I'm a man of science. But I've got this sneaky insatiable feeling deep within my soul that somehow, carbon deposits have accumulated in the exhaust of my FJR.

I got a fix for that.

Stay thirsty, my friends....

Almost 50 here today but the icy streets preclude access to the dry highways.

Got up to 61F today. I've gone as far as I can with maintenance on the KTM until parts arrive. Moved things around and hauled out the FJR today. I went and hit my usual hour long loop. About halfway around I deviated from the route and tried to go find a road I've done before off of memory that has some sweeping curves. Couldn't find it and started navigating with the GPS like Pants. Hrmmm. that road has a bend in it, let's go ride it. Soon as I hit one road I thought that maybe this was a mistake. It was pretty unimproved, lots of potholes and patches. Then the pavement ran out. Right about here I was beginning to wonder if I brought the wrong bike.

See, it's been raining solid for a week, and what I hit just over that little hill there was what I knew was coming. Mud. Not deep, not horrible, but damn slick especially on the FJR with those tires. KTM would have eaten it up but the FJR was not in it's element. I took it slow and steady and made it through. How slow? Well, it's probably the first time an FJR has EVER been passed by a squirrel. Yea, that happened. Made it to pavement and got some speed going to knock the mud out of the grooves. Good times. Going to be 73F on Tuesday, that's when my parts will be in, will actually enjoy wrenching compared to the past few weeks when the temperature of my tools was around 35F.

The flaw with "navigating by GPS map" is two fold, as I see it:

1. The screen won't delinate between the paved and unpaved.
2. The scren can't tell me what condition the road is in.

Still, my curiosity usually wins the cranal debate. Admittedly it's an elementary discussion.

You did a good job of navigating on the fly the day we rode out there in LA. You kept us out of the rain and on schedule.
You even allowed time for me to drop my bike and pick it up.

We were not late for supper!

Pants is way better than me at navigating by the set of his...um...pants. I'm way better and creating a route on the computer, but his routes usually end up being more fun.

Garmin is supposed to. Problem is they don't know what roads are gravel and which are tarmac or better.

Time once was I made the effort to send map error reports to Garmin. Saw a number of them implemented. Lost interest.
