I don't. I have one bike. Motivation to maintain one bike is enough for me. Anything more feels like damn work to me.

But I'm glad for you that y'all have the willpower to maintain all your motorcycles.

Two bikes, you ride each one half as much. So same maintenance as having one bike.

What is this maintenance you speak of? Hondas, Kawasakis, and Yamahas are basically run them til they die right??

Harley are the only ones you gota work on. That’s why they are always in the shop.

Today I ordered tires for the FJR. Seems like I just did that not too long ago. Well, I guess I can't complain about burning motorcycle tires....

You went through those fast. You got them right after my visit.
In fact I got a set about the same time. Sadly mine still have plenty of tread.

Rode it to Newfound Gap and back at a leisurely pace. Temps ranged from 28-73.

Yea, but I gotta pay the government six freaking times for the two cars and four bikes. THAT's the part that sucks. Also insurance.

Jeff stopped at my place Fri. on way back home. We went to a big party at my daughter's place Fri. evening. Took the FJR and showed him Carter's lake, went across Ft. Mountain to Ellijay. Then 52 to Big Creek, Doubleheader gap, and 60 into Suches and stopped at TWO for lunch. Took 60 down into Dahlonega then 52, and 136 to Talking Rock and back to the farm. About 141 miles, but we were tired after the party Fri. night. Discovered I suck at Axe throwing. It was fun though, band was good. Jeff took off this morning with heated gear fired up. Fun weekend.

That's a very good North Georgia route.

I was fortunate to have caught the BRP and Route 80 during the last hurrah of foliage season about a week ago. I also was trying different mounts for my 360 cam to try to get a few good snapshots from the video. I thought the footage came out pretty well so I put together this close to 4 minute video of Rt80 and figured I would post it here in case anyone wanted to check it out.

It was a beautiful day in NE Ohio, so after mowing the lawn, I had to take the bike out for a little ride down through Amish country. I even stopped to take a picture...wish I could post it here.

Last ride of the season last evening, always a gamble getting out for the last ride before they start to salt the roads.

A nice refreshing ride (seen -1 at one point) then drain the rear end & engine oil. I'll give her a good bath tonight before I start the winter maintenance.

I know that refreshing that you speak of. 28F last Saturday morning in spots on my way up in elevation before the Sun warmed things up to 73F in lower altitudes. It was fine though...no salt, no road moisture, very little wind...except velocity generated.

- I mean, it can be as simple as a little bit of grease on a clutch lever pivot, right?

The maintenance I speak of is that which allows me, during every ride, to know I'm not going to be stuck along side the road because something I neglected has failed...

Got everything in hand to do a valve check, plugs, TBS, and retorque steering head. Took it for a day ride up to the Cherohala Skyway. A quick lunch at Tellico Grains Bakery, and the Skyway beckons. The FJR was made for this road. Great day, great weather, and a great bike enjoying all those beautiful sweepers and overlooks. No pics today, just taking it in. So blessed to be able to take off and ride these great roads whenever I want. The FJR was so much fun today. Now I don't want to take it apart. It's running so smooth. I think I will wait for winter weather.

Rode it. It’s overdue for a plug change, TBS, and a valve adjustment. Will probably get the first two done, and get the valve check done deeper into winter.

It’s running slightly rough, not enough for anyone that doesn’t ride it every day to notice. Prob plugs.

I still get an occasional stumble, but it’s not common or progressive, so I don’t think it’s TPS related. Every once in a blue moon coming off idle, it’ll feel like someone turned the key of for a tenth of a second. First world problem.

I’m in the friend zone with my tires. Plenty of tread left, but enough wear/profiling that it transitions a little weird at parking lot speeds, tracks grooves a little. I need to burn them up.

Rode it across the vast Des Moines metro to pick up my wife's favorite perfume for her birthday. One gets interesting looks when walking into Sephora in a road-weary banana suit. At least it was freshly washed, so they didn't need to spray me with eau de toilette.

I added a couple things for overall safety over the last 2 weeks. The first was the Brake Light helmet light that uses a combination of gyrometer and accelerometers to detect when your slowing down and of course braking. Totally wireless with a 12 hour battery life. Another feature is that you can move it easily between helmets with their small mounts. I really like it so far and it was highly rated everywhere I looked.

Secondly I installed a set of Denali D2's aux lights. I already have them on another bike without LED headlights and I definitely can tell drivers see me better so thought it could not hurt on the FJR. These things are very bright even when pointed downward a bit so you don't blind people. I believe these are worth the investment as I hopefully am seen much better from both the front and the back.

I was expecting a big job installing the Denali's but it was relatively easy. Took off the seat, battery panel, and the loosened the ventilation panel and was able to run the harness easily, zip tying it along the route etc. Tapped into the red wire brake light and that was it. Thought I would throw this out there in case anyone is interested.

Got out for a little 135 mile ride down through Amish country yesterday afternoon

Not to my FJR but I finally remembered to put the pinlock insert into my helmet so I no longer have to open the face shield to clear it on those 30 odd degree rides to work.
