Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
I hope people are joking about hard feelings. This calendar is an awesome opportunity for you to get a calendar taken by your fellow riders. If people are hurt they didn't make "the cut", then I have to LMAO at them. I didn't make the cut for the 7th grade basketball team...I got over it.

7th grade basketball, really?. I thought at that age they pushed everyone thru as "young hopefuls!"
And don't feel bad, I tried to make the Syracuse men's basketball team as a walk-on. Yep, I missed the 2nd to last cut {insert sad face}, and I'm still blaming that Boeheim idgit!

I just gave Ray’s entry five stars mostly because of that handsome dude pointing at the sign.

Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
This last bit reminds me of my college track coach. My freshman year I placed second in couple of events at a meet and the coach asked me how I did. Well that was my opening to sell myself up a bit and I exuberantly told him I got second in pole vault and javelin. He waits a second for the rest of the team to hear his destruction of my ego "Cav, do not ever get excited about being the first place LOSER. Freshman....God they are dumb. Bragging about losing."Redfish wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:38 am Good Lord, you bunch of dorks.
When I said they were all winners, Cav47 understood exactly what I meant. I meant that it was a win/win situation for all of us. We all got the chance to take pics of our bikes when we went RIDING our bikes and we got to share that here with each other. I appreciated ALL of the pics and I felt some of the happiness that each of the participants must have felt at the time they took their picture.
If we have to come out and say it, not every picture submitted was my favorite picture ever. That's why it's a contest. I don't believe in "participation trophies", or consolation prizes, or whining because I didn't win. It is a contest and that to me means one winner.
And as of right now... All of you are just competing to be the First Losers!
He was joking and not joking at the same time. I will never forget that moment. It was both good and bad.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

I like my photo of of Mt. Rainier with the helmet in the foreground just because as Monte Python used to say "Now for something completely different."
Hey everyone here is a winner. I think all of the photos should be in the calendar. Just put multiple pics on a page.

Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
Well, the rules for this year's calendar were stated before the contest by the person making the calendar.
He can make any rules he sees fit, and you can enter or not. I believe we entered under those conditions.

Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
Another viewpoint from someone below the red line. I think wheaton is running the participation ribbon calendar. I'm not mocking anyone's picture. I'm grateful we can make this a contest instead of begging for 12 images like I had to on the Nighthawk Forum. But I think the incentive of making the cut is part of the fun and promotes a better product.fontanaman wrote: ↑Thu Nov 30, 2017 11:30 pm I should have said for 2019 I think all of the photos should be in the calendar. There are other showcases I have planned that will be more suited towards including everyone. If we get 365 entries next year, I'll make a one a day calendar.

Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
Personally I like One Big Pic for the calendar. It was a nice "consolation prize" to see my LOSING pic on the page with all the small photos but it was hard to see. I like to be able to glance up from anywhere in my office and see an FJR photo on my calendar.
I know one other little thing... DesignFlaw06 is doing all of us one hell of a favor by doing this. He has already told us several times that the Nighthawk forum lost this calendar due to stupidity. I am all about letting him make his own rules and do his own thing. If he is willing to keep doing this calendar for us I am willing to keep playing by his rules and paying his fee.
That calendar has been a bright spot on my office wall for the last 11 months.

Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
Is Wheatie is attempting to morph this calendar into his old calendar habits? You know the ones that included "Ms. December"
On a side note, for future calendars, maybe those with the most votes could pick their month. Last year, I was Mr. July. Since we are not in school that month, I missed seeing most of it.
Since my kids are taking a test right now, I am flipping back through the months. Man, we set the bar high last year.
Best Scenery has to go to FJROB
Best Collection to JustinNick
Most Dangerous location to Gramps
Cleanest Close Up to Wheatie
Best Color Contrast Pants
Best Story LittleJon
Most Outlandish/Stunning Oface (maybe that is a Selfie)
Best Sunlight Timing Kieefjr
Best Location DesignFlaw
Best Action Shot ExtremeMarine
Every single shot makes me want to go to those places. I have been to some, but each picture tells me I could use another dose!
Tim, Thanks for work and effort on this. My calendar will come off the wall, but the pictures will never go away. I might make a book of them or put them up in the garage. Kinda like my pin up girls..............right Wheatie? I can't wait to ogle Mr. May from 2017.

Re: The Official 2018 Calendar Contest Thread
I don't think Mr. Calendar solicited ideas for Calendar ideas. I think he just solicited photographs. Let's just keep the good thing what it is...12 months, 12 photographs...
...and mebbe a centerfold spread for Mr. Cav...who seems to be getting a little bit too randy.
