I ground down my pegs on the gen 1, I think mostly from a worn shock that I refused to replace.

I've touched a few times on my current bike, and I think that was mostly due to poor riding position.

Ironically, my comfortable foot riding position has the outer heel of my boots hanging off the peg about 1/4". So many times, my boot becomes the "feeler" and when I get the tickle, I know that the end is near.

No highway pegs on the FJR for Pants. After seeing Josh in my mirror pogo his Gen 1 on the hwy pegs on Hwy 348 in North Georgia, that cured any curiosity on that matter.

So if one has good body position and suspension is correct and pegs still scrape... then a leanier bike is necessary?

Nah, you just need to put a Car Tire on the back, that will "ratchet" your suspension up higher as the FJR rides up on the edge of the tire. {It''s also a little harder to hold a clean line through the apex so you might slow down a little because of that as well} either way you won't scrape as much. LOL

I just rode a guys new 2019 Aprilia RSV4 1100 factory and I think it was a "Leanier bike".

Must resist...... it was f@$king awesome.

My peg feelers are getting quite worn down. This phenomenon began happening when I realized my suspension was unacceptably worn. I still plan to rebuild soon (with a nod to rayzerman). Either that or upgrade the bike. But I'm reluctant to do the latter. Suspension is likely forthcoming. Damn crappy mpg on the mt-10!

I've learned that peg scraping is far less likely with proper riding position. My one day at trackxperience with the new rider school taught me a lot. Basically, gripping the bike with knees and ankles, digging the opposite of apex knee into the tank, and hanging your ass half off the seat while making a triangle with your apex-side leg allows for a sharper turn with a more upright bike. And with that, there's no peg scraping. (But I dont use that position on my fjr, so, until I get my suspension rebuilt, I drag pegs). :)

Leanier... ability to lean before hard parts start to scrap. Sentence uses: Sure wish the FJR was leanier! Are all Aprilia's leanier? Highway pegs are the debil for leanier bikes.
