Since rolling the bike out for the first time this spring, I've had issues with the throttle response and the audiovox cruise control that was installed by the previous owner.
The cruise would cut out intermittently - sometimes under load, sometimes it wouldn't set, generally unreliable.
The throttle was an entire mess when compared to the last bike. Abrupt response when rolling on the throttle, inconsistent and just no way to get in the throttle smoothly. I changed out maps in the PC-V, went back to no PC-V. I had installed a G2 throttle tube and was thinking that was the issue.
So a couple of weeks ago, I resolved to take the bike apart and dig in. Usually, once the bike is buttoned up in March, the only reason it gets touched is for new tires and oil changes. I checked the dip switches on the audiovox, found them to match the recommended settings. I followed the vacuum line looking for pinches or leaks after pulling the tank.
Then it hit me. The vacuum line was T'd into the manifold vacuum sensor line, not the TBS ports. That was odd, and not how I'd ever seen or read it being done before. So I dug into my parts boxes and found the plumbing from the old bike's audiovox install. I changed it out and returned the sensor line to it's OEM config.
This morning's ride was the second time out since making these changes. Audiovox is working better, no perfectly, but it will set and hold speed. The throttle is now better than anything I've ever had on an FJR. Silky smooth rolling on and off, very lineal when I begin to apply throttle through a corner, all the way to WOT.
Now I can concentrate on the suspension clickers - still some work to be done there...
