Do you suffer from saggy pegs?

I swear to god I think his pegs got mauled from going off totally sweet jumps on the bike.

I don't think fatigue. That is an ultimate strength crack, especially with the hole oblong (stretched) perpendicular to the crack direction. Fatigue would more likely have just worn the hole and not started a crack until there wasn't enough material to maintain a decent amount of residual strength.

So...I don't know the history of the bike, but it could be from sliding on the pavement with the peg as a contact point. That same thing happens on XS11s when you park on a hill and don't put it in gear...and the kick stand collapses...

...not that I would ever do anything that stupid...

To follow up on this peg situation. I priced OEM pegs from Partzilla, $116 w/shipping! WTF.. So good ol Amazon for the win. $23 and change for a set of pegs with pins, springs, curb feelers and the whole mess. Now let me be clear, these look like the Harbor Freight of pegs so we will see how they hold up.

I saw on one of the FB groups that some dude stood up on the peg and it broke off while standing. He said it was a rather frightening experience. Someone asked if his balls have yet to descend after the event.

I saw that one too. Dropping to just one side must have been an experience!

I guess removing the pegs and examining them for wear should be an annual (?) maintenance item. I'll probably take mine off the next time I lube the linkages.

I would think it depends on how much you weigh and if you stand on the pegs a lot or not.

Do what the Harley riders did.... the ones I followed on the Blue Ridge a couple of years ago... longer peg feelers that went all sparky when grinding on the pavement... quite the light show, and they were showing off (not that they had to lean much).

It's already quite a spectacle following me, no sparks needed..
