Forum Ops Fund Raiser - input

Post by extrememarine »

6/3/19 - Edit - update - donation link created.

I've set up a donation item in the store front - "FJRiders.com Donation". It is set to $1 - you can change the quantity to adjust the amount you wish to donate.

2019 fund raiser thoughts.

I just renewed the hosting plan for the forum with InMotion. Overall, the software seems fairly stable with very few hiccups over the past year. That migration, as suggested by and executed by Designflaw06, was well worth the efforts.

I'm working on pricing for embroidered hats, screen printed shirts (FJRiders.com logo) and embroidered shirts (polo style /w fjriders.com logo).

With the screen printing, there is an order minimum requirement of 12. No minimum for embroidered items. I may end up pushing the screen printed shirts out to combine them with the EOM shirt order, but there will still be the 12 shirt minimum with the screen. I'll add a disclaimer to those shirts that states if the minimum order is not reached, the orders will be refunded.

Also sourcing FJRiders.com stickers locally - searching for a vendor that will allow me to create a sheet that I can add forum names under the logo.

I also still have the FJR key chains available, and we can still produce the licence plate frames as well - have to get a new one completed for Wheaton "threadcrasher" might be appropriate this year...

Any thoughts and input is appreciated...

Possibly acceptance of a straight-up donation with a suggested minimum donation? My wife runs a web site and when she asked for a few small donations she got 5 years worth in a matter of a few days.

I was hesitant to accept donations in the past - wanting to ensure there was a tangible item "purchased". What I could do is create an item in the store for "purchasing" a key chain, and leave the amount open. It could be in $1 increments like I do the Jordan's Initiative donations with EOM.

Thanks - good idea...

The options are limited only by the space on the template - "I-break-bones"; "anotheronebitesthedust" - wait, that one's for JWilly - "Is my bike ok?" - "I like ambulance rides" - "sign.my.bone" - "JWilly.rode.me.home" - and I'm sure there's so many more out there...

What does matter is this - you'll be at EOM, on a bike or not, but you'll be there...

With a donation we would be purchasing a Service and the tangible end product of the Service is a functioning Forum with a minimum of glitches.

Heaven knows, Photobucket has shown us that a 'free' service is very expensive and prone to sudden, extreme acts of disservice.

First off, that DesignFlow06 dude is pretty cool, isn't he? 8-) A fine gentleman, to be sure.

I have a few long-sleeve tees with motorcycle themes. They work well for riding on chilly days, and you can set up 'FJRiders' versions on Zazzle or SmugMug or some other website that accepts orders whenever someone wants one. Folks could order a tee with the logo, a picture from the FJRiders Calendar, maybe a pic of Jennifer Aniston in a bikini draped across my FJR ...

Most of us would be willing to pay a few extra Loonies for the 2020 calendar. Not sure how many calendars you guys sold this year, but an extra $10 per ... maybe it would make a difference.

And there's always the direct donation. Wouldn't upset any of us.

ANYTHING, sir, to avoid animated/flashing/titillating advertisements in the margins. (And by titillating, I mean helmets, shoes, aux lights, jackets, slip-ons, etc.)

Awww, you're going to make me blush!

One idea that had been floated around was to make a lighted license plate frame. Not sure what the interest level is there. I'm open to creating other printed projects if people have ideas.

I tried modeling wheaty's bike and printing it. This was the result.

I love the logo stuff, but I, too, would be in favor of donating directly. I would call it the same as donating to keep Spotwalla going add free. Give to that every year.

I love swag of the tasteful kind.... but I'm also in favour of a special licence plate frame at EOM "Been to Cleveland". Then again, I don't know how Wheatie can put two frames on his bike without us making up a special bracketry..

As long you don’t start asking for gas cards, or wanting us all to pitch in for new bike, or sitting on a raised dias at EOM. I think you’ll be fine.

Otherwise, I’m gonna make fortune selling tickets to slap the back of your head.

I like the idea of embroidered, polo style shirts (my Dad started a garage based embroidery business during the brief time he was retired). Otherwise direct contribution works too. Maybe something tacked on to EOM registration?

You rock for all you do sir.
