Between the cruise, the abs and the traction control, I think this thing will actually polish my knob on long trips. Maybe even short ones. Now begins the de-modding of my other one and to order some goodies that won't transfer over to this one.

Oh ya, 2004 FJR, 100,000 miles, $4500 FOB Sudbury Ontario.

More like cancelled trip to Alaska + money not spent on Alaska = Nice down payment on 2013 FJR. I only took a week off work, saving the rest of the time for EOM and maybe a trip down Ohio/WV/Virginia way.

The rip off living in Canada...

Post by bungie4 »

So when I bought the bike the dealer and I spoke about Extended Warranties. I knew that the Cdn YES warranty is expensive (going by memory here) something like $1400/4 yrs. Ya. No. They also offer an aftermarket one that is roughly the same price, however, if you are claim free at the end of the 4yr period, they'll remiburse about 90% of the total fee for the coverage. IF YOUR CLAIM FREE. Make one claim, and it's out the window on that deal.

So I called Yammie and asked if I could purchase the warranty in the U.S (D&H for $389). They said I could purchase it, but it would be useless and likely not be honoured in either country.

So much for Yammie Canada and Yammie U.S merging into one unit a few years ago.

It seems bikes purchased in their respective countries are only 'visible' via their countries internal database. This means a US bike brought in for warranty work in Canada wouldn't likely be honoured (easily, the dealer would have to go to bat for you at Yammie Corp).

Long story short, no extended warranty for me. The aftermarket one is so vague as to be laughable, guess why they give you that big reimbursement carrot.
