News to me. The south's gain. Tell Iris you want to follow her on a spirited ride sometime

News to me too. That's a big change from the Albany, NY area. But the roads do suit their riding style and the climate will allow year round riding, so I'm not surprised.

Anyway, what color is the 2019 FJR? 8-)
My wife asked me why I speak so softly around the house. I said that I was worried that someone was listening. She laughed, I laughed, Alexa laughed.

Ya. I'm good with that decision.
I'll be moving to the Lake Murray area in 3-4 years. Looking at homes to buy there now.

I got tired of waiting. Went to the dealer and looked at a 2018 A yesterday. Told them I want an ES. They said they can get one from the next county over. So once I pull the clearwaters and other stuff off (final list involves pulling the shield, dash, clearwaters, garmin GPS harness, heated gear lead, peg lowering brackets, admore rear brake light, license plate frame, t-rex bag guards, r&g frame sliders, SR357 rack/case, ram ball on left bar, and pulling the tool/tire/flashlight kit from under the seat), we'll talk numbers and see if I'm buying from them or someone else. Helibridge is staying with the '14, because it's a PITA to remove, and because I will be ordering a black one from Heli modified if I close the deal on a 2018. The blacked out matte look grew on me rather quickly. As beautiful as my high-gloss metallic red '14 is, going stealth will be most excellent in its' own way. I'm not above buying a 2018 A (which my dealer has on the floor), but I'd really like to try an ES.

I think the 18 looks awesome in person. Like the 14, you don't really get to see what it really looks like in photos.

Did the dealer have anything to say about possibility/probability/death of the '19 FJR?

That is exactly what I thought about the '14. I still haven't seen the '18. Dealer by me won't stock FJRs apparently.

Lots of FJR colours are stunning in person but don't photograph all that well. The Cdn Root Beer (Rays bike), the blue matt, the 'yellow gray' on the 13, and perhaps the least known, the Jade Gray that came on the AE, I think in 2006.

I specifically asked. Told them I'd consider a 2019 ES if they could give me an idea of what color and when they'd have stock. They said they have no info.

On an unrelated note- Mrs. Lumberg and I both oohd and ahhhd over the Yamaha land barge. It was primo. I'd have sold my soul for it if not for a couple of details.
I explained that, besides the tonnage being a concern, it was air cooled. She remembers full well how much fun I was to be around when my last non-water cooled bike coughed up a valve from my regular time spent in southern heat and stop and go traffic.

She'd have been just as happy if I'd decided on a Kawasaki Vulcan Voyager as the 2018 FJR1300, but I have concerns about the durability of the Kawasaki over distance and in extended wet riding, and about the fact that the Vulcan would drag a floorboard just turning into a Kroger parking lot...We both liked the 2018 FJR a lot.

I talked to the customer service rep at Yamaha Corporate Klown Kamp in Kennesaw this morning. The CS rep said they don't find out about new model year releases until they are publicly released. I absolutely believe that a 19 FJR will be released soon (I mean they just made changes a couple of years ago). The already released 2019 Yamaha Niken might make a skeptic think otherwise...

Didn't mention Kawi durability in our conversation, because ... well, because I don't know first-hand. Perhaps VulcanVoyagerRiders.com would shed some light on that. Yamaha and Honda both have good reputations for long-running motorbikes.

I, too have faith in the 2019, FJR. The Niken was a one-off technological showcase item, just like the ride-by-themselves motorbikes.

Shoot. I haven’t, in years of searching, found a respondent or poster that was an all weather, high mileage Vulcan rider. Pretty obvious why...

If they could do that without any weight gain it would cost me some money. I've done a lot of miles on a K1600 GT (GerTrude) and it got tiring trying to dance with the fat hausfrau up and down California's winding roads. Following Bugnator along the Feather River I ground a few pounds off the old girl on the corners but it wore me out. If the displacement goes up, the weight can't follow or I won't follow.

I can't believe that Yamaha would let the FJR go PPFFFfffftttttttttt with no fanfare. Given the reign dynasty of the bike it should go out with some kind of a big flourish, one last ode to the brand that will leave a mark for a long time 8-)

There doesn't appear to be much point in asking a dealer.
Yamaha's website doesn't offer an email address for a customer to write to. Unbelievable.

Agreed. I often look for a clue as to where a company is located, and street addresses or area codes are typically shown on the "About" or "Contact" webpages. The really small businesses and the really big ones usually have a pre-designed webpage where you enter all YOUR info and your complaint/message without learning anything about THEIR info.

Yamaha is different.

Yamaha Corporation of America (musical instruments, motorsports, Bosendorfer pianos, and Line 6 electronic musical devices) has this street address: Yamaha Corporation of America, 6600 Orangethorpe Avenue, Buena Park, CA 90620.

Yamaha Motorsports has several street addresses and toll-free numbers, but -- you're right -- no email addresses. Didn't know that Yamaha generators, Wave Runners, outboard motors, boats, and 'intelligent machinery' are made on the north side of metro Atlanta in Kennesaw. Didn't find out what's made on the south side in Newnan near I-85 and GA 34. Wonder if any of them can shed light on the 2019 FJR?

<edit, a few minutes later> Looks like I may have discovered a new Ride Report topic: Yamaha manufacturing facilities.

Scrolled back a few years, and the announcements of the new models have been in the first or second week of OCTOBER.

Stock up on FJRs boys...this run has come to an end.

A few Redfish Thoughts...

That new Yamaha Land Barge is not selling down here at all. My local dealer has one the same Liquid Graphite color as my beloved '15 FJR ES and they cannot sell it. The curvy young lady that sold Pop his Honda 250 Rally told me that nobody wants it but they are selling the new GoldWings as fast as they can get them.

New FJR model/color has traditionally been announced in October, as Wheaton has already said.

The '14 FJR color was originally known as either Lace Panty Pink or Lipstick Pink. I will give Baowow credit for Mary Kay Pink. Of course when Pop got his '14 FJR I no longer had the courage to refer to that color in that manner. The '14 FJR color is now known as Blood of My Enemies Red.

Bungie, I think that wonderful gray color for the AE model was '08 or '09. I really liked that color on that bike.

Thanks to that damned Fred W the official color for my '15 ES is AssFault Gray. I love the stealthiness of my '15.

If the FJR is Done my world will not end. My '15 only has 34K miles, it can go for a very long time before I need something new. There will always be a motorcycle out there that will work for me.

"Over the next few months please continue to keep a CLOSE eye out on our website as new product may be announced."
