Re: The Dunlop Road Smart III compared to Michelin PR2/PR4GT Dilemma
Scored a great deal on Roadsmart 3's via a "Vendor Discount" $176 for a pair after the $100 rebate! Should buy 2 more sets for travelers.
Talked to a Dunlop muckity muck for awhile, he claimed they are successfully buying Michelin market share with their current Roadsmart 3 promotion. What else would you expect him to say? Oface recommend them, will install during my mid-September "Pit Stop" at home enroute from Reuben Run to Maggie Valley. Festar had his set installed yesterday.

Sounds about right, same thing with Bridgestone. It gives you an idea of how far ahead and how much market share Michelin has/is.
I'm gonna order another set in the next few weeks. At the current prices it's a little foolish not to. No telling when they'll be happy with the market share and stop the promo

Now that’s about half price to the PR4. No brained there. When does the rebate end? I could pick up a set now and hold them for later

Rode my Roadsmart 3s for five hours in the rain this past weekend. Mostly Interstate, but all at 10 mph above the speed limit. Stuck to the pavement like they're supposed to. Slipped on lane lines, like every tire ever invented, so I practiced changing lanes between the skip stripes.

Looks like I'm gonna get to try out the RS3's on a rain soaked interstate tomorrow.Uncle Hud wrote: ↑Tue Aug 07, 2018 3:33 pm Rode my Roadsmart 3s for five hours in the rain this past weekend. Seeing how I'm so close, and hotel check in isn't till 3, I'm gonna burn off about 50 miles on the Interstate, then hop off before Pittsburg (where 55 is a mere suggestion) and follow my nose. I'll likely end up near Toledo.

Re: The Dunlop Road Smart III compared to Michelin PR2/PR4GT Dilemma
I know more than one guy who gets impeccable all around performance from RSIII’s. And more than one who tossed them because of pronounced handling problems in the wet. We all got a great price on them.
Yesterday, I got to experience Road 5’s in the wet for he first time. Did great wet and dry. I’m not ready to say I like them as well as PR4GT’s, but they are pretty darned good.

Re: The Dunlop Road Smart III compared to Michelin PR2/PR4GT Dilemma
Well, I just installed a PR5 on the rear. I got 8360 miles out of the RS3, could have gotten a little more, but took it in to have a pinhole leak fixed and got talked into a new tire.
Do I really need to put something here?? Why don't you guys just think of something witty instead...........

Re: The Dunlop Road Smart III compared to Michelin PR2/PR4GT Dilemma
I have about 1750 miles on a set of Road 5s. Absolutely love them. Installed them for EOM and they were actually sticky after a run on the dragon and the rattler.
Spent 4 plus hours in the rain coming home at higher than normal speeds and I'm a believer. Better than the pr4s I was running a my last bike.

My RS3's went 8,700 before I pulled them when my buyer wanted the Darkside tire I had on my shelf. Would run them again in a heartbeat. Might try them on the GSA if a paved adventure rears its head after Alaska.

Re: The Dunlop Road Smart III compared to Michelin PR2/PR4GT Dilemma
I know I'm in the minority.....but I've got around 11k on a RS3 front and it's got another 3-4k in her. I've had great luck with tires, mostly getting around 11 - 15k miles. I am running a GMax CT on the back, but have run the RS3 in the rear in the past with similar results. The RS3 has been overall great in all types of weather thus far (rain, wind, snow, sun). It's a tire.

Re: The Dunlop Road Smart III compared to Michelin PR2/PR4GT Dilemma
I'd say the gear traveled most is "traffic".... But that's the entire east coast, it seems. Charlotte NC area. I live out in the country, though, where there are some great back roads. This year has been a few IBA rides across country as well. BRP, Pikes Peak, and a wide mix of interstate.wheatonFJR wrote: ↑Mon Oct 29, 2018 11:32 am Where do you live and what roads do you ride...and do you live in 5th 6th gear?

Well, I am very impressed by the wear you are getting on your tires.
