Roadsmart 3's good for 6,000 miles

Post by bigjohnsd »

Festar's set of RS3 have just over 6,000 miles of spirited use.
We are in Payson UT, heading to RMATVMC to get him another rear tire. Front still good, rear now below wear bar indicators. Looking for a place to have it changed as well if anyone has a suggestion.

6000 hard miles on a rear tire is respectable. I'm guessing that all Arky roads would have cut those to 3500-4000.

You are likely right, though there is a fair bit of chip and seal out West where he has been riding.

I'd blame it on a week of riding with Marty in Colorado.

I would, too. I blame everything on Marty.

Looks like there is a Cycle Gear location in Draper, UT 30 minutes north of you. They will swap and balance a tire if you can get it off the bike.

Edit: Sorry to take this thread back on topic and not busting Marty's balls... This clearly is his fault!

I’d be more than happy to swear under oath that having watched you ride for many, many miles, there is no way in hell you could be speeding through those curves. -0face

Man, if I can get 6000 miles out of a RS3 rear, and ride the way I want to, then it's gonna be bye by Michelin. You can bet your sweet bippy on that.

BTW - what the hell is a "bippy", anyway?

I'm with you. 6000 miles on a rear is not something I've been able to get since moving south. More curves, more back tire spinny.

We got the tire, another RS3 and surprisingly discovered that RMATVMC does mount and balance on the premises for $30! Took only a few minutes to have Festar's wheel off and they quickly changed it. We were in at 0900 and on the road at 1000. Now in Ely NV for the evening.

Hppants, Ive seen you ride, youll likely get 8-10,000 out of the RS3 rear.

No need to worry about tires. He has another set sitting in my shop to be mounted at the Reuben along with some brakes.

My RS3s currently have 7,832 on them. The rear is done, but didn’t stop me from heading out for brunch with the wife today.

Let me clarify, it’s not Wheatie level done, but I wouldn’t ride it more than 10 miles from the house.
