Gave a shot at modeling a FJR keyring. First print attempt turned out alright

Post by DesignFlaw06 »

My modeling skills are limited at best. To challenge myself a little, I tried doing a FJR keyring. There's still some work to be done, but I'm pretty happy with the first print attempt.

The model is such a way that I think I can make it look like a Gen 2 or 1 easy enough. Why did I chose the Gen 3? Dunno.

SCHWEET!

That looks GREAT! And you chose the Gen 3 because it's far superior to all other motorbikes.

I’ll take one!

Do we get color choices? Don’t wanna be like Griff and buy one that doesn’t match his PINK 14. Lol.

In all seriousness, that is an awesome first effort. I could see them going over well if you decide to market them.

The plan is to market them, but I'm not there yet. I think I'll have to have different colors to sell. I won't be able to match exact colors, but I can get the basic colors. Might be able to find some other premium filaments to get closer to something like a 2013. I'm limited to 4 colors per model at the moment. This print is two halfs glued together. The goal is to eliminate the need for support material. But I can separate a couple parts out and try to make a clean assembly process.

I'll try to have something ready and printed for EOM since I think they would sell well there or could at least be used as some giveaways.

That's an impressive first effort. And Christmas ornaments? That's brilliant, Chuck. I'm going to have to put a tree in the shop just for these.

So here's another question. Would you guys want both sides? Or would one half work with some of solid color background behind it?

Wow awesome first effort! Definitely interested when you perfect it. The one sided with background sounds interesting, look forward to seeing that too! Nice job!

It would prob be more stable with one side only.

Can you print FJR on the backside “solid” side?

If you’re putting two halves together you should stick a light in the headlight with a battery and make a cool little flash light function.

Because you got nothing else to do...

Now he has to design a battery slot and a switch. Now see what you've done!!!

And an engine. Oh hell yeah, with five gears (keep it simple) and a kickstand that would kill the engine when you put it down. Or maybe just leave it as a cool little keychain. I like it. Wouldn't mind having my keys on one. And just think, you could sell one to every FJR owner in America. That'd be, like, dozens!

Seriously, good job!

We can smash one with a hammer, then twist it with pliers, then it would look even more like one of yours...
