Givi rack part number

Post by silverback »

Hello,

I have a buddy who bought Jwilly's Givi and he now needs a rack to attach it to his 08.

Anyone know a part number for said bracket?

Thanks.

I believe its SR357 for Gen2 & Gen3 bikes. The SR346 fits Gen1 bikes.

Thanks for the reply.

Another question...

Is it possible to rekey a monolock Givi to match your FJR's key?

SR357 is the correct mounting rack. No you cannot use the Yamaha lock in the Givi box and the Givi lock is rather unique so I don't believe re-keying it will be feasible.

If you have one of those unique security keys, then you can't. If you have the older standard-looking key, if the FJR key will slide in, then you can change the tumblers (or top secret cheat is to remove the lock cylinder, insert FJR key (if it fits) and file the tumblers flush to the barrel). Or, you could try to see if one of your saddlebag lock cylinders fits the Givi. If it does, then get a spare FJR lock cylinder.

That's kind of what I was wondering if the whole lock cylinder could be swapped out. It would be so nice to have that.

Odd as it may be I kind of like having my top box key on a separate key ring in my tank bag. I found it quite useful on LD rallies to be able to let my bike running with the lighting pointed at a bonus location while I was able to get my flag and rally book out of the top box without shutting off the bike. Also useful for my passenger to be able to get into the top box at a fuel stop while my bike key is in the gas cap.

I don't think of it as any big deal at all...but that's just me. I'm usually more concerned about when we are stopping next for pie.

What? You put your keys on separate key rings? How the heck are you supposed to lose them all at once doing crap like that? Hmm?

Still rathet have a single key myself.

I only put my ignition key and my Givi key together when I’m traveling away from my region. I’d like to have a one key auto lock system like bmw, but I have it much better with a bigger case and more reliable bike. I can deal with the key issue. Net gain.
