Beautiful 13 FJR.
If you have the sun behind you..turn the lights off, or they may not see you...cuz they just think you is the sun.

Nice work! I love homemade brackets, make them all the time for stuff. Does that make me weird?

Sometimes I make brackets to hold my brackets. Brackets support the world, ya know.

That's what happened here! The inner brackets were added after the first attempt failed!
and yes, you're weird. Welcome to the club..

Too funny, my sense of direction and lack of GPS skills will take you places you've never been before!escapefjrtist wrote: ↑Tue Jun 05, 2018 10:34 pm That's a lot of light DC...you get to lead after dark!

Then, the stator will burn out and then where we be?

Somewhat off topic, but which tank bag is that in the last pic? Great documentation on the lights!

Re: Clearwater Light Install - Sevina on top; Erica bottom
I have a question for you guys with aux lighting: I have a 2018A, so no adaptive headlights. In turns, there are times when I cannot see through the turn. It's my one regret for buying an "A" vs an "ES". Anyway, where would lights help me most in this situation: At mirror height or down on the forks by the brakes?
Thanks,
Dan
Thanks,

I'm putting Darlas on my forks over the next two weeks.* That way, when I turn the front wheel, the lights illuminate where the bike is going.
* Also adding heated Laam seats, hardwired iPhone power, and replacing the cigarette lighter with a dual-port USB. All switched.

That's pretty much exactly how I've been thinking of setting mine up when I get it. Nice to see the mostly finished product besides just in my imagination.

Re: Clearwater Light Install - Sevina on top; Erica bottom
IMO, lights mounted high, like dc's typical mirror-mount installation in the first pic are for the benefit of the rider seeing more of the road ahead. The fork-mounted lights are so "they" will see "you" any time, day or night. I have the yellow lens covers on my low-mounted Clearwater Darlas and they make you really stand out from a distance, and maybe especially in traffic. You just will not be mistaken for anything else with that setup. And when you turn, do you really crank the bars way over, like a steering wheel? So the beam of light is way over in the direction you're turning? Or do you lean, and the beam of light is still pretty much lined up with the bike's centerline? If you want better visibility in dark corners, I suggest the Clearwater Ericas or Kristas mounted under the mirrors. I don't think many people really need the overwhelming brightness of those Sevinas, unless you do a lot of night riding on really dark roads or heavy underbrush where things hide. All Clearwater's lights have a wide flood of light--a LOT of light--with the much brightest part of the beam more focused in the center. Nice combination of spot and flood lights.

Very nice. How long did the install take? I have a sister that lives near there shop. Might have to take a ride out west and have them installed on mine.
I also saw your notification to me. I don't have authorization to PM members yet since I'm a newbie. If you see this. E-mail me directly or send me a private message so I can return your inquiry. Yes, I'm interested. (in both)

Re: Clearwater Light Install - Sevina on top; Erica bottom
Another thing for mdcarter: When you buy lights from Clearwater, they send you a complete installation kit and what I understand to be good clear instructions. He's across town from me and has done all my installs, so I'll go by what I've read, but everybody seems to agree. They're great on customer service too--he often has talked customers through confusion on the phone. Maybe others who've done self installs can chime in.
