Rubber Bit
While washing my new-to-me bike, a mysterious piece of rubber appeared. No idea where it came from but I am fairly sure it came off my 2011 FJR. I have a few photos of the piece with a quarter beside for size scale.
Trying this at the "other" place. A few suggestions so far but nothing found yet. Moulded piece of rubber with a "tab" on one end. Looks like it was torn off something. A moulded channel in the piece - one side looks finished and the other looks ripped or sliced. Obviously designed to protect something. Can't tell where it came from but I am guessing closer to the front than the rear and maybe toward the front of the tank??? I have not (yet) looked under the tank but will the next time I have it raised for anything.
Probably a totally unrelated piece of material placed there by someone knowing it would drive me crazy...

I think Bust's urologist found that during the last colonoscopy, unleashing a flood. He goes to various meets and puts them on bikes...kinda like a Flat Stanley project.

Re: Rubber Bit
Not sure what to call it, but it almost looks like one of the rubber support tabs that is under fuel tank. Not sure why someone would cut it. Of course I may be way off base on this, hard to tell from the picture.

Re: Rubber Bit
Maybe? Don't remember anything that looks like that but haven't had the nose cone off to check anything up front on this bike. I completely removed the windshield mechanism "gasket" on the '07 and re-installed with 3-M trim tape and a piece like this doesn't seem familiar - that was 6 years ago, I think.
Nope. That all seems intact.
Not sure how I could make the picture any clearer...

Re: Rubber Bit
Thanks to Intech (Correction FYB - see below) for getting me to go back and look at stuff!
I was just having a look at the parts fiche for the 2011 and the "gaskets" that seal the windshield arms are quite different from those in the 2007. For the earlier model, it was a single moulded sheet with slots and cutouts in the appropriate places.
Part 51 https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamah ... /cowling-1
I remember quite a few people had problems with it detaching and causing jams. I originally had problems but took it apart, cleaned it up and fixed it - some people just removed it completely.
I see that on the 2011, the seal is actually in five separate pieces.
Parts 44 to 48 https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/yamah ... /cowling-1
It is quite possible that the mystery rubber bit is from one of these pieces. Fiche is too low resolution to see for sure. It can wait until I have it apart in the off season - have some fairly major stuff I want to do.
