ABS light Blinking

So the last few days I have had the ABS light blink at me. It does not start right away, but after riding for a little while. It will go off after I turn the bike off. A little later, it will come back on and blink.

I read the thread about this on here. I am thinking I need to clean up something. Where should I start??

Have you tried engaging the ABS to make sure the unit is working? I get on a flat paved road with no traffic, get up to about 25 MPH and slam on the REAR break.

Check the DiaG screen for codes. Check the rear brake pedal is not sticking, and the front lever switches (2 of them) are cleanly engaging, may need cleaning with contact cleaner. Do the clutch side while you're at it (no effect on ABS). Are we OK yet? If sensor codes, remove sensors, clean any white aluminum corrosion, light coating of silicone (dielectric OK) grease, reinstall. Are we OK yet?
PS - ABS will not likely function with light on, or maybe blinking.

Clean and lube your foot lever. It's notorious for getting dirty and sticking, causing your rear brake to stay engaged, get hot, and freak your sensor out. Also, do all the stuff Ray said.

Another vote for cleaning and greasing the rear brake pedal. Very common problem. I've had the blinking ABS light due to sticking rear pedal. This cleaning requires completely removing the pedal to be effective. Extra points if you install a grease zerk in the pedal like I did because then you can just hit it with a grease gun once a year.

If you're like me and like to duplicate a problem before fixing it, park the bike where you can see the brake light come on while kneeling on the left side of the bike and with your hand push the rear brake pedal and VERY slowly and carefully release it in an attempt to get it to hang up. Try pushing in or out while pushing and releasing. IF you can get it to stick there, it can surely stick while rolling down the road.
