The way they hyped up Dex-cool when it came out you'd think it would recreate Hiroshima if you mixed green and orange. Usually it just made some weird brown color.

I don't think I would put dex-cool in an FJR. Too much price and pain to flush sufficiently. Plus, 3 quarts of green mix every couple years isn't too bad to deal with.
There's just too much what the f@$k in this thread to know where to begin...

I went from Dex-Cool to green stuff. Drained, filled with distilled water and ran until after the thermostat opened. Two more quick fill and drain with distilled water (no perceptible color left). The next problem is to figure out how much water is left in the system (no blow-job here). Don't bother - if you use the full strength stuff, add HALF the total required volume of undiluted glycol and then top it off using distilled water. If you use 50:50 premix, you probably should do one fill, drain and discard because of dilution from the water that remains in the system after a flush (a fair amount!!).

I always buy the full strength stuff anyway and dilute with distilled water as necessary. Don't need to pay Prestone a bunch of money for water!

If you want, get a helper... bike on centerstand, with drain screw out, rock bike over to the right and some residual coolant will come out. Repeat if you want, to the left then back to the right, you'll get a dribble more. There is most likely some in hoses, etc... if you get a cupful I'd be surprised. IF you did a blow job, maybe another half cup. Jes sayin' don't worry about the residual amount. Get your calculator out and a chart to figure out how much "freezing" protection you're losing, then stop thinking about it. The only time you really need to do a flush is when changing types of coolant, ie., DexCool to the good stuff or other way around.
Keep yer stick on the ice........... (Red Green)
Duct tape can't fix stupid, but it can sure muffle the sound.

You'll use a touch less than the spec amount, cuz you can't get it all out, maybe a cupful..
Was gone for a long weekend and didn't see this until today. Drained and refilled the system last night with the over priced Yamacool. Just started a new post, question on what I saw after I let it idle for a bit.
