FJR1300P (as in Police model)

Post by kieefjr »

One just showed up at a dealer in my state. I haven't seen it yet but it looks interesting. I'm curious of what they will be asking for it and if other dealers will stock them?

Nice, but hard as hell to keep clean.
More visibility too.

Aren't those the flatter European side case covers? Makes the bike a little skinnier...just a little tho.

City Bag lids 👍

Enough room for a ticket book and a first aid kit. 😀

I wonder how many mirror stay subframes are going to get repaired/replaced/ignored, if they ever "have to lay it down" like on CHiPs?

Excellent! I had NOT read that.

So they act as an engine guard as well as a slider? :bustinlove:

You are right of course, it's gonna happen fer sure... but that's why they got them new and improved crash bars... bit higher it looks like, which is a good thing.

Interesting that it is an "A", not an "ES". The seat and rear box might be an alternative to the Smuggler if available (separately) for a reasonable cost - unlikely, I think. The box might be a built-in rather than something that can be swapped in and out. Probably also wired for electrical stuff.

When two motorcycle cops go out as partners, they each usually ride their own motorcycle. So the main reason for that ES option is pretty moot.

I observed one of the University Police officers here yesterday clip his shaving sink on his head, and ride off into the campus with no jacket and no gloves. He was wearing his police issued knee high boots, which I have found to be very good, but likely not very comfortable.

(sigh)

I got this reply from the owner and it sounds like this bike will only be offered to city police. I replied back to clarify but have not gotten a reply.
good morning, kirk hayes at jims motorcycle sales. thanks for checking on the police unit. this is a unit that we have to provide Yamaha the police dept credentials to order. I can do so if you would get that to me.

Pretty sure the Michigan State Police were looking at these. Guaranteed they will be blue if that's the case.

I'd go with the Cobalt Blue. It is the fastest after all.

Dunno where they are going to put that big red light. Maybe on the helmet? Inspector Gadget style?

As suspected this bike is only available to police departments and not available to civilians.

They should be available after the city turns them in, lightly use and barley broken in.
