Hundred bucks says you got more than one, and we'll find it.... Go get 'im Festus, this could be entertaining. None of us really cares as long as Bob gets the screws fixed. BTW, friend just brought his '13 to me, all the screws were loose, one missing. Coulda been expensive. Lotta these stories out there, and if anybody believes that's part of the dealer prep, I'm not a believer.

It may be listed on a special instruction sheet that comes with the bags that the customer never sees but it is NOT part of the dealer's generic set up & review-with-customer sheet.

When I got my '14, saddlebags come in separate boxes (dealer had put them on a shelf)... no paperwork I could see, nor loctite. I've read only a couple of new owners that had the screws loctited because they asked prior to delivery........ they read it right here on the nenernet. Dunno why Yamaha hasn't "fixed" this yet, but being from the auto industry I get where that wouldn't get back to the powers that be (little or no warranty data).

I was the third owner of my 13 that I got in fall of 2014....
...yes, they were barely finger tight. If the ONLY thing this board did was save me from buying new sidebags, it would be plenty...but the chicanery and humour watching people with only one feeling, get their feeling hurt...is priceless. :D

Cool beans! Along with routine clean-n-lubes these screws are on my annual list of items to check. Other things come and go from the list yearly but these screws get checked every yr without fail. IIRC 5 or 6 yrs is the lifespan of blue LockTite- I had 1 of the 4 come loose a few yrs back.

It specifically states to loctite the screws in the Yamaha bag installation manual that came with my bike. I asked the salesman if they did loctite them and he said "of course." Of course they were NOT loctited when I checked

ViperDad...it sounds like you aren't aware of this bag lock screw condition. Have you checked to see if you have any screws loose? :stickpoke:

Yeah, I'm all for sticking up for my friends...I also don't want my friends to ride along and lose a rear bag because you were talking about x and I was talking about z.

I went to the day spa and got a full mani/pedi so now my one feeling is better. Tomorrow the brazilian wax should cure all my other ails. Next up? Getting my colon cleansed.
