Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
You sure it was your traction control?
Modern, high-quality roadway striping is thermoplastic, typically applied through a small superheater. When thermoplastic is wet, it's slicker than flu snot, and there's not much that traction control can do for you.
What makes an urban rider's ass draw a suction on his/her seat? Wet manhole covers.

Smart words from a smart guy. Obviously plan A is to fly the thing so TCS and ABS are not necessary. But since my last tire change, I’ve had some anomalies that I’ve never had before. With over 60,000 miles on this bike alone.

Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
Rob, I’m about 15 minutes from you at the moment. Spent the last few days trying to figure out how to make time and share a beer with you, but just couldn’t make it work out. It snowed 6” or so at home the day we left and it’s supposed to snow on Sunday I think, when we get home.
Just for reference, I’m in Davenport. I’ve tried and tried to block out time and catch up with you, but I’m the driver and everyone has needed something every time I get ready to call you.
Jolene will head out as soon as possible!

Well, I'm sorry we couldn't have met up while you were down, but I totally understand family commitments. I know we'll catch up at some point, and I look forward to hearing more about Jolene's resurrection.

He's lying, LKLD! Festus is just sad that his resurrection project is drawing to an end so he's down in Florida searching for Jolene's long-lost, angry brother. He goes by "Jeremy"... I believe Pearl Jam made a song about him?

Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
Okay, time to finish this project up. I don't have my manual with me at work, so I thought I'd ask in hopes someone can help me. I'd like to order the parts to rebuild the front forks today. What do I need? Just the seals and o-rings? Or other parts as well?
Any help would be appreciated, or I'll just wait until tomorrow when I can have a look at the manual tonight.

Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
Bushings and fork oil too of course. Do you have a seal driver? If you are going to replace that middle bushing then IIRC a special tool will need to be made/acquired.

Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
I think we addressed that two weeks ago, 58k... bushings, seals, oil. No to o-rings (top cap), or springs. I'd highly recommend FYB's (IN)tech day as the time for this. Special tool for middle bushing, and seal driver is a piece of 2" PVC... talk to FYB.

Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
We did Ray, I just hadn't looked at the parts diagram at that point. Now I'm trying to order the parts but not positive on what I need to order, since I've never seen the insides before
I'll reach out to FYB or another local guy who's made the tool for a FJR once I have all the parts.
In this diagram, can you tell me what numbers I need to replace? I hate to ask, because it's the lazy man's way out, but I'm just trying to get the stuff ordered from work today.

28 - Fork Seal
25 - Upper Bushing
26 - Mid Bushing (Optional)
23 - Lower Bushing
Recommended also
27 - Dust Cap
Same stuff on the other side
8 - Fork Seal
5 - Upper Bushing
6 - Mid Bushing (Optional)
3 - Lower Bushing
Recommended also
7 - Dust Cap
I ordered and replaced these as well, but it's kind of pointless, but there are some who will recommend it.
10 and 30 - Clip Ring Retainer
Someone confirm I haven't missed anything.

Re: Jolene, Jolene, Jolene...
Go to item 53 I think, 4SV-W003B-00-00 seal kit as it's cheaper than buying seals and dust seals separately. One kit has all you need for $20 something, Partzilla.
Middle bushing is optional only if you think it is.. there was discussion about leaving it out once upon a time, but me I wouldn't. IF you want some "Clip Ring Retainer", buy ones for a Honda ST - 51447-KZ3-003 (Ring, Oil Seal Stopper) or Kawi C14 - 92003-1077 as they are wavy likr thy should be IMHO and easy to install/remove rather than digging the Yammy ones out next time. The ES has wavy ones but they are too small a diameter (43mm vs. 48). I also keep in my toolbox a spare washer 9 - 4SV-23115-00-00 to use for putting between the seal and the 2" PVC seal driver or driving in the new top bushing with the old top bushing. FYB may have one.
Guess I should write one of them tech articles that everybody's talking about........
Consult with gixxerjasen, he'll tell you how to 'gixxerjasen' your forks, or not to, depending on his mood.
