Well I removed the clutch plates and cleaned everything, put a good coat of oil on everything and reinstalled. Bike shifts silky smooth now. I was surprised at how dry the plates were, especially towards the motor. Thanks to everyone for the advice.

It looks like it will be NE Arkansas. My parents are getting on a bit and I would like to be closer. Will still have an off season, but I might snowbird a little farter south.
