Garage door opener hard wired

Ages ago, I hardwired my garage remote to a PTT button mounted on a small waterproof hobby box I picked up from Radio Shack. I then mounted the remote hidden someplace in the fairings where it wouldn't likely get wet. I had a few other buttons on the box as well, including one to put the bike into dealer mode to display codes. Retarded to put the dealer mode switch under the rear cowling where you have to turn off the bike to open the back and turning the bike off would clear that specific code. Anyway, I used industrial velcro to mount the box somewhere convenient. Very similar solution to kieefjr's which required no modifications to the bike and had more than one use.

Now, with multiple bikes in my garage, the remote just lives in my jacket pocket so I always have it.

DesignFlaw06, I like that delay relay, might have to look into messing with one of those.

I just used double sided tape to stick mine in the glove box.

I took that one step further by removing the electric lock solenoid, which lets me open the glove box without the ignition having to be on... handy a few times already.

I found the keychain remotes did not work from far enough away. I went to the scrap yard and took the factory one from a Mercedes and put it behind the fairing above the headlight and ran a wire for a remote switch that works with the ignition. Now I can round the corner on my street hit the button and garage is wide open when I get to it. Works just as I hoped it would and for less than $20.00 wire & switch included.
