This past trip, I got into a batch of fresh road tar, apparently. Before I go crazy trying a bunch of stupid crap, can anyone tell me what they have used to remove this from the chrome exhaust cans? Obviously, I'm interested in something non-abrasive, and do not want to dull the finish.
Thanks.

Turpentine if it's heavy, or WD40 if its just a bit. Any solvent will work.

If you don't have the paint thinners, I keep a bottle of this handy https://www.turtlewax.com/shop/products ... r-16-fl-oz

Re: Road Tar on the Stock Cans
Warm up the pipes to soften the tar, wipes off easier with a milder solvent like varsol/mineral spirits or naptha or kerosene.

Mineral spirits and for tougher spots, I break out the lacquer thinner.
