Aftermarket Rear Shocks

I couldn't find any concrete answers on this, but would a Gen1 Aftermarket shock (Ohlins/Penske) work on a Gen3 A?

Some smarter people will come along soon with a real answer, but I think Gen2 shocks are compatible with Gen3...but Gen 1s are not.

Yes. All the linkages are the same. My Penske came off a Gen 3 to my Gen 1.

Before you launch, contact someone who actually knows, like the manufacturer, distributor, or suspension shop that has a good reputation. I know that some HyperPro models have fitment issues with Gen III's. If they do, others may too. There are some small, subtle differences where some tabs and screw holes are located on the rear of Gen III's that were not the same as my Gen II. I got everything to work, but there was some blue air, and red knuckles.

There are some small issues that may need adjustment, but the basic, overall fitment is the same. My Wilbers came off a GenI. When I tried to put it on my '07, the way the line to the reservoir exited the shock interfered with my ABS block. It needed rebuilt anyway, so I had that done, and they moved the line around just a hair.

Other than that, they are the same.

I agree the basic shock will fit all Gen's, where you have issues is with an onboard reservoir, but anything with hoses (remote reservoir) should be OK. Might have to adjust a fitting but that's a minor thing.
