What Happened?
Many have asked what happened to the forum and how did we get here.
This text was posted on the place holder page I established when we began the rebuilding process:
11 Jan 2013 - Current status of FJRiders.com
The hardware recovery failed. Chest compression's were conducted to the point of exhaustion…. Any historical data – threads, structure, etc. is gone. At this point, it is what it is. Nothing more on that front will be addressed – I’m not interested in derogatory comments around what put it where it is. If you have a recommendation based on experience that you feel would benefit the cause, by all means, share. The direction is forward, weapons hot, hammer down…
What still exists is the desire and efforts of a core group of enthusiasts trying breathe new life into fjriders.com. In that aspect, there is a pulse – faint and shallow – but a pulse nonetheless. As the CPR continues, we are closing the loop on a new home (host) and operating system (software) along with defining ownership, staff, and structure.
This place holder page will remain in place until we are ready to go live with the forum site.

Enough about the past. As I stated, the direction is forward.
There are many individuals who have offered assistance in the past few months. The challenge for me was finding the someone with the key skill set required - i.e. knowledge of the software we are now using for the forum. By a some stroke of luck, Calimus happened along and stuck his hand in the air, and just so happened to be pretty dam proficient with phpBB - the software we are now using. He was instrumental in picking up the torch and knowing which way to go with it. For that, I can not thank him enough. He's got an adult beverage or 5 on me when I finally bump into him in person (**cough- EOM- cough**).
So where we are now, is a site that has been stood back up and we are working through hosting service growing pains. At this point, it has cost zero dollars to FJRiders.com; Calimus and I have volunteered our time, as well as Clocklaw and Fairlaner. The software is open source and free, the webhost service is paid for through August 2013 on my dime from the FJR EOM site.
The FJRiders.com team consists of the following, structured along the lines of the original site - Fairlaner and Clocklaw are moderators. Calimus has the lead on software operations and administration. Jason (JWilly) owns the domain "FJRiders.com", and I have taken on the responsibility for the management of the project - as in keeping it alive through administration.
My intent is to grow this community into a self sufficient entity from both a moderation stand point and a financial stand point. I also intend to keep the same mindset when it comes to policing the site as what was laid out by Jason and Dom when they established the site. No need to recreate the wheel. In other words, wear your big boy (or girl) panties when you come in this sandbox.
We are looking into some merchandising opportunities - t-shirts and stickers - as a means to generate donations to support the annual operating costs of the forum.
Everyone's continued support and patience is very much appreciated as we get things fine tuned and stabilized.

Re: What Happened?
Wayne,
As a member of other forums, I can appreciate that the most valuable resource is time. Hopefully the administrative staff isn't too swamped every day running all this.
However, I will bring up the subject of funding as I can appreciate there are out of pocket costs involved. I am not opposed to making a donation as a 'site supporter' and perhaps a little by many would be worthy of consideration.
Wishing the CEO and staff every success!
Ray.

Thanks,
Wayne

Wayne,
You know I did the FJRiders stickers once before and it kind of died, but we can try again if you want. Just let me know if we want to have another run made up,
Jim

Good idea. I can see theme stickers. Goats, cross-dressing members, manatees, and more. Only imagination could stop us.Bust wrote:Sounds like a plan Jim.. I can send you pics of nude sheep if you think they'd work.wellsj wrote:Wayne,
