Joe or others,
Does one of the current designs fit a gen 3? I also have a gen 2 till the spring.
And for fitment with different seats, I have stock, RDL and Seth currently, that we could use for fitment. And one of those stiffy kits by Garauld,

It seems the one person who contacted me via the other forum is not being counted as a participant.
The official count is now at two.
It would be nice to shake some trees and find a few more interested parties.
I spent the day working on the CAD model. During the previous group buy, the guy doing the welding (the third guy to weld these tanks) gave me an education about joints and penetration.
The tanks will be the same, but the guesswork will be taken out of the models and drawings.

Have you tried Facebook? There is quite a large selection of people on the FJR Facebook pages. I'm just not sure how wide you want the audience to be.

Just so you know, I have no issue with you posting elsewhere and steering folks to the thread here. The issues becomes if someone is not a member, they won't see the content until the join; I'd suggest having the text in a word document and paste it on each of the outlets. And you'll find many who are not engaged on the forums are active in the FB groups...

Just read this thread...and took an aspirin.
I have a Tag-Along-Tank on my Gen II and love it! In fact, a while back my bike was parked in the garage at work while I was on a trip and my buddy/co-worker backed into it and knocked it over. When I returned, he pulled me aside and broke the bad news to me and the only thing I could think was "oh god, I hope my aux tank is ok!" While I enjoy non-competitive long distance riding, it isn't only for that purpose. I also enjoy commuting all week without having to visit the gas station. For me, it just makes life on my bike more convenient. When riding with a group of friends, I am the emergency tanker in case one of those dolts runs out of fuel.
Mine has a flush mount cap, which would still be my preference, had I to do it again. I'll sometimes strap a bag on top of the TAT, which wouldn't be as easy with a filler neck. The only con is that you can't stuff quite as much fuel in it.
I chose to pump my fuel from the aux to the main. At first I used a momentary switch on the handlebar, but soon grew tired of that. I found a postage stamp size timer on amazon and now run it that way, through a relay with the whole thing operable only when the engine is running. I like this setup very much.
The original valve works great for me, I would not change that. Then again, I don't gravity feed, so what do I know.
I'm short, so my seat has to be in the low position. My Sargent seat touches the front of the tank and it's a bit of a tight fit, not particularly easy to put on. This isn't necessarily a bad thing, as it keeps water from getting under the tank area, at least along that front edge. I tried my old stock seat and a Corbin and in my opinion, these would not work without modification, in the low position. They are a little longer front-to-back than the Sargent. Regardless of what configuration you use, you'll have to rig a seat release to get the front seat off, but that's easy to do.
I have or can take any pictures folks want to help with the set-up of theirs, you just have to be patient with me. My job requires me to be away from my bike (also wife, kids, home) sometimes for extended periods of time, so I might not get back to you right away.

I had one of these made back a year or two ago and love it. I use a fuel pump with mine and it has worked flawless. Good design and easy to deal with. I preferred the TAT as I already owned a Yamaha Top Box and didn't want to go with the other designs out there that use a pelican case on top of their aux tank design.

About two weeks ago, I was contacted via the other forum. I was asked about my tanks.
A week after that, I was contacted again by another forum member, inquiring about the tanks.
Then... at CFO, a third gentleman expressed interest.
Luckily for these three, building these tanks is like childbirth: After some time passes, one forgets the pain and making another one seems like a good idea.
I'm now working with a different fabrication shop. I've been very pleased with their quality and price on other work they did for me. I dropped off my tank and CAD files with them this afternoon. I hope to have pricing details tomorrow.
So, here we go again…
