Holy Hell. What kind of crash tears down the whole site? Glad we're back though. Nice job those of you that did the hard work.

Unless the hosting company went belly up, or they lost the facility??

But I'm glad that the site is backup, as I lost part of my morning routine

I lost the motherboard on my file server at work a couple of months ago, the whole thing died. Fortunately I had a backup routine to save the day. My guess is that their backup routine was unsuccessful, the new setup should have a redundant backup system.

I work for a large hosting company down here, and yes backups are always an issue, part of the virtualised world unfortunately. I did work for a major telco before that and to guarantee backup of a similar environment cost mega bucks. Get them to test their backups on a regular basis.
