She's fast!

Post by KMW »

A couple days ago I had a perfect alignment of the planets, and happened to hit a wide, flat, straight, open road where you can see for a few miles, and had no traffic at all, so I turned it on to see what she could do.

It's a 2014, and has about 1900 miles on it now. We were two up, the windscreen was up, and the bags were on. We reached 145 indicated and were still climbing just fine when I decided to bring her back down for space. Unfortunately it didn't dawn on me just what I had in front of me until I was part way across this stretch, so I lost a little space. I'll have to hit it again with a plan next time.

I was extremely impressed with how rock solid stable it was. The only thing was all the little rises in the road that you never notice at 60 were quite noticeable at 145! But no shake, no wobble, no wandering, just straight and steady. I've been on some bikes that start feeling scary when you reach certain speeds, and you feel more like you're hanging on for dear life rather than riding it. This totally felt like I was still riding it.

I haven't gotten a mount yet for phone or GPS, so I haven't compared the speedo with GPS. Based on how it was still accelerating at 145, I am sure it would get well into the 150s two up with no problem. I can only imagine what it would do with just me, bags off, and windscreen down.

I couldn't enjoy going that fast with my wife shrieking in my ear.

Fastest two up has only been about 90. So, I still have a ways to go to be one of the cool kids like you guys. Rumor has it Clocklaw can out corner a hypermotard two up on a vespa. Someday, when I grow up, I wanna be like him. ;););)
