Ride to Hyder
Is anyone contemplating the MTF rides to Hyder Alaska in May? I am tempted. I would leave out of Cheyenne. Fuel and tires are my biggest concern. Mostly harley's signed up at this moment but they need someone to follow..

Re: Ride to Hyder
Quick math and not allowing time to eat, fuel, sleep, take a leak and be a tourist, says you have to average approx. 83 mph for your entire trip from Cheyenne to Hyder if your schedule of one day is accurate...lol!!
Stop and smell the roses so my old compatriots do not have to scrape you off a rock wall somewhere. Our speed limits are far lower and our roads in the spring will be a challenge.
Have fun!!

Re: Ride to Hyder
Agree it is a quick and long ride. I am following the schedule from MTF for this ride. Departing Cheyenne at 430 am on the 21st and arriving in Hyder I would say late on the 22. 2000 miles is a haul. I am in the planning phases right now so appreciate the feedback.

Re: Ride to Hyder
This is a tour?
The Google suggests 33 hours Cheyenne - Hyder, with no traffic, ideal road conditions etc.
That leaves zero time for sightseeing, taking photos, refreshments..
I gotta ask what's the hurry?
At least it's after the holiday long weekend, so the Queen's Cowboys won't be quite so intolerant...
Good luck.

Re: Ride to Hyder
I'm mostly familiar with the Canadian portion, ie. the Yellowhead Highway, BC-16W. If that's your planned route, it's unlikely to pose refueling problems.
The historic Yellowhead is pretty well known, and popular with motorcyclists
Have a good ride!

I am considering a SS 3K from Pittsburgh. But not sure if it will pan out. Hyder is a long way from the rest Alaska.

Re: Ride to Hyder
I rode to Hyder last May from South Carolina. I had zero problems with fuel, longest stretch was ~170 miles. I was also able to make it on one set of tires. Took me 12 days, roughly 7200 miles. Boring as hell thru central canada, recommend going up thru Glacier much prettier ride.
