Just joined the forum after picking up a 2012 FJR ABS today. Rode the 2012 FJR, then a 2005 FJR, then the 2012 again (because I was really liking it) and then a 2009 Concours. I really wanted to like that Concours. It had a lot of great goodies on it for the price; e.g., cruise control, aftermarket seat, windshield, etc., etc. But it just didn't "fit" for me. So we went to lunch; we talked about it; and I went back and bought the 2012. It only had 4260 miles on it and I'm happy with the deal I got. The ride home from the dealer was about an hour and I couldn't be happier at this point. What a really sweet bike. It has the standard side cases and a Shad SH50 top case.
I also have a 2004 Vulcan Mean Streak which I've been riding since new and still own. It'll still be my daily-driver for the most part but I'm excited about the FJR and planning some trips for next year.
I've been riding about 30 years on various bikes but I tend to keep them for a few years as a time. I think I'll keep this one for a while.
The 2025 Calendar is now available for purchase! Click here for purchase links!

Welcome aboard. I've got a sportbike riding buddy who endurance races and also owns and enjoys a Mean Streak, so don't let anyone here give you a hard time about it
Where are you? That's important for the meeting-people aspect of this forum.
I too rode a Connie and really wanted to like it. The local Kaw dealer is a great guy and has been very good to me for the last 20 years or so. But the FJR just fit me better. There's also a very good Yamaha dealer within 100 miles of my home who has been very good to me for the last 30 years or so, so I went to him and bought there.

Wow, that is a really weird set of coincedences. But I have to say you have great taste in motorcycles!bungie4 wrote:Hum. My last name is Barnes, and, before buying my first FJR, this is what I rode:
