Welcome.

Post by extrememarine »

Hello and Welcome (and welcome back for some or most).

What the heck happened? Where has it been?

In a word, life happened. FJRiders is a volunteer based project, as just about every other online community out there. Everyone has paying jobs, careers, families, and murphy's law exempts now one. What matters is fjriders is alive. More importantly, the manner in which we have reestablished the forum will ensure sustainability and survivability moving forward. Unfortunately, we're starting from scratch. The premise is the same - a self governing and policing community of like minded individuals sharing our thoughts and passion about the FJR, motorcycles, life, etc. Express your opinions, freely, with minimal boundaries. If it's legal, it'll fly here just like before. Moderation will be minimal.

I /we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Calimus - William. He offered to help, and had first had knowledge and experience with the phpBB software I decided to run the forum on. He has put in some serious time and efforts in getting things tuned and tweaked. There's work to be done, but we would not be where we are right now with out William.

There are many more who were involved with getting things rolling. They essentially made sure I never stopped chest compression's. I kept waiting for the meat wagon to show up and roll this thing into the morgue, but a stubborn shove from those who care kept things moving forward. Richard, Gerald, Marty, Alex, Mark, Bob, and many others kept nudging things along and were key in doing the initial walk around inside to make sure it wouldn't fall about in the first 3 feet... Thanks!

And to Jason - JWilly - for keeping the torch lit. I could not let something I know absorbed so much time in the beginning just fade away.

This sandbox is not meant to compete with the other FJR forum, but to supplement or extend the community. I encourage everyone to be active on both sites when possible and enjoy each for what it is.

Somethings are different, some the same. Dive in and get your feet wet. If you have a suggestion to make the place better, let us know.

Donations - many have asked and offered about donating to the forum. At some point, I will take everyone up on that. The primary focus initially was getting the forum re-established and functioning. All resources and time to get us here has been donated by Jason, William, and I. Webhosting will need to renewed later in the year, as well as the domain name. We are looking at some options that will ensure the forum is as self sustaining as possible. Look for some merchandising in the future that will allow you to contribute.

The Barcardi is kicking in, so that's enough for now because I'm hitting the backspace about every three key-strokes now...

Looks like a nice format. Thanks.
My wife asked me why I speak so softly around the house. I said that I was worried that someone was listening. She laughed, I laughed, Alexa laughed.
