Re: 2014 Service Manual
I don't normally enter into discussions like this but after reading about every other page on this thread (yes I could have missed something important) I have a question
If someone bought the printed manual from Yamaha and then scanned a page and then put it on the forum to show someone a step or two.......then that person print out that said page
Is that crossing that copy right thingy you guys are talking about .... hmmmmmm????

The copyright thingy we are talking is all a scam and doesn't really exist. You may do whatever you want!huron52 wrote:I don't normally enter into discussions like this but after reading about every other page on this thread (yes I could have missed something important) I have a question

Re: 2014 Service Manual
Very technically, yes. If you are trying to sell the scanned pages without permission and profit from them like the CDs then definitely yes. If your scan is intended to totally supplant the need for the OEM manual then definitely yes. Almost all the posted scans are not complete procedures, the reader would still have to buy a FSM to perform the whole task. If the scans are not intended for profit and/or not intended to replace the need/requirement for a FSM I doubt that there would be an issue that Yamaha would chase you about. To put a more sane scale on things, posting the axle nut torque, which to split hairs may be technically illegal, is different than copying the entire FSM and selling it 100% for your own personal profit.huron52 wrote:I don't normally enter into discussions like this but after reading about every other page on this thread (yes I could have missed something important) I have a question

When the other sandbox was started, some of the admins had close ties to Cyprus and some major Yamaha dealers and chose to take the high road and not under cut them on a public forum. I don't think the majority of people have a problem with that.
Yes, we have been told that copyright means nothing. Go ahead and share your entire music collection online. Advertise it as free unlimited downloads. I suspect that you will quickly learn something about copyright protection....HotRodZilla wrote:The copyright thingy we are talking is all a scam and doesn't really exist.
