Is there any place to look for 14 service manual other than Yamaha Stealership?

Let me get back to you on that. I just know that the same manual is $165 in Canada. The Yammie Canada website has no section for manuals (just parts online).

I wouldn't mind picking up a '14ES manual for a little light, fun reading. As a secondary benefit I would be prepared should I suddenly one day find a Gen III in my garage.

Exactly what I want it for (I will have a GenIII one day)..... the same listing on ebay has been repeated, price is now U$109. Yikes.

I spoke to the Yamaha rep at a recent test ride...... Apparently they decided the 900 triple has waaaaaay too much power, thus they are/have introduced the 750...... but I'm a bit skeptical he knew all.........

I got the 2013-14 Yamaha FJR1300 FJR 1300 Series Maintenance & Repair Manual Hi DEF +Bonus on eBay by Manuals4Mechanics. Haven't got the CD but they sent me the download site. It is on both my Droid and PC. Seems to be excellent. You can also legally print any or all pages. Definitely worth $13.50 to the door. It does not have the ES addendum but I have an A model. Easy to search for items. Has Owners manual too.
It is NOT the destination. It is the RIDE getting there!

You can't "legally" print something that wasn't originally sold to the public legally. (At least in the US) Yamaha has never sold any digital form of the tech service manual to end owners (that has been confirmed by Yamaha Customer Service). It's suspected that what's floating around are bootlegged copies of something Yamaha sells to dealers for in-house use only.

If anyone wants to call Cypress and find out otherwise, I'll gladly help spread the word.

I spent 45 minutes on the phone with them recently and they eventually said I would have to mail in my issue in writing....so I would recommend you forgo the phone call and just write them to ask.

As for the intended direction of your conversation, I have seen aftermarket manuals made for vehicles in the past, maybe his is not a Yamaha manual??? I don't know if they are legit or not....but here is the website, I would like to know if they are. http://manuals4mechanics.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

If you think you know what copyright law makes legal or illegal, and you are not a lawyer specializing in copyrights, you are probably mistaken. I create information for our county on roads, address and land parcels. It is public domain, but after lengthy court battle the State Supreme Court ruled that the data was public domain BUT could be copyrighted. What does that mean? Someone can request it for free (almost) under the freedom of information act, but they can not reproduce it "if copyrighted." After dealing with our attorneys on copyright law, I came to the conclusion that it was not worth the effort for us to copyright our data. First you have to mark the data as being copyrighted. Then you have to register it. If you change it, you have to register it again. It takes time to bring an infringement case to court. I'm not clear on this part but during the time you notify the offender and it gets to court, there are no damages assessed to the offender. "You can't "legally" print something that wasn't originally sold to the public legally" is probably true but that implies the people selling these digital copies are reproducing a copy of a totally proprietary document. The printed Yamaha Service Manual is sold to the public. So you get into what about the copying method constitutes the infringement. Maybe the biggest part of this issue did Yamaha clearly mark and register the Service Manual. One of the steps were looking at was running a pure bluff. Mark our data as copyrighted but never taking anyone to court. Why? Because a lot of people would be deterred and it wasn't worth any loss of revenue from pursuing it. Bottom line is are you going to shake in your bed waiting for the FBI to knock on your door to confiscate your $13.50 CD? If it is a moral/ethical thing about law breaking, I would ask do you ever exceed the speed limit?

If you can buy a $14,000 bike, but are too cheap to spend $100 on a legal service manual, that says something about you.

And since you're obviously no legal expert either, how's about you don't use this board or the other one to pedal shit that isn't legal and could piss Yamaha off. I would be surprised to see them go after people buying bootlegged manuals, but I could totally see them trying to make an example out of one of these boards.

Should Yamaha step into this century and make digital copies? Yup! But until they do, people will continue stealing their info. It's like buying Oakleys in Mexico.

i think what the prior posters are saying is that www forum owners/admins quake in their boots about being shutdown for facilitating the trade of bootlegged materials. on the board where bounce is an admin, they shut down threads and time-out offenders.
while it is "just the internet", many have no interest in their forum diversions of choice being shut down.
whatever... :D

You have no idea or does anyone else whether a copyright infringement has taken place. What I do know is that this is about as close to a personal attack as you can get. Aren't personal attacks banned on just about every reputable MC board? Maybe you should apologize and disappear into the sunset.
