You would have to know your local laws, but around here, any pharmacy can sell (or donate) several medical needles to you without a prescription. Fill the syringe with fine grease using a thin stick, and you have a tiny, precision grease needle. Commercial grease needles are usually too thick to work here. The grease will soon rot the rubber plunger, so each syringe is a one-use-only tool. This tool will put new grease into bearing races without dis-assembly, and even underneath grease seals.
Do not mix white (lithium) grease with black (petroleum) grease, as they are not usually compatible.
Cheers,
Red

Yeah, I ride motorcycles. I know why dogs put their heads out of the car windows.
Yeah, I fly hang gliders (3000 hrs.+). I know why the birds sing.
I just use a thin coffee stir stick and smear the grease around against the rollers. Excess gets pushed out by the bushings, so a little cleanup after.

I think that will be a dual sport event for me. But you never know.
I went with a PR 4 GT. Lots of my FJR riding involves camping gear load out. And I like the way the GT handles. Plus I was able to get that in a 190 for the same cost as the 180 this time.

I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!
I have a set of PR 4 GT waiting on the shelf. Likely my last set of those as the prices of the Dunlop RS4 have come down to equal the PR 4 GT. The Dunlops last longer and hold a better shape throughout their life.
Now if cost was the only consideration, based on my tread life for each, a Shinko Raven 009 is the least expensive at 3.596 cent/mile, vs. 5.286 cents/mile for a Dunlop RS4.
Of course price isn't everything. The Dunlop endured 7700 miles on my bike or so while the Shinko went 5200 miles, not to mention the Dunlop inspires a bit more confidence.
Anybody seen a good review on the 2025 Honda NT1100 USA version?

Rode the FJR today a bit. Ended up at the local BMW shop and I was served without regard for being on an FJR. Might be funny for some but certainly not for all.

You were ok because you didn't park too close. Could have been mistaken for an RT from a distance. Good thing too because you might have been keyed! Oh no, wait, that's Tesla's.
BTW dude, get a tank bag that looks like it was bought during the 20th century!

Keying a Tesla is certainly less expensive than egging it with the price of eggs. Interestingly enough our Canadian neighbors aren't experiencing an egg shortage because their production methods are more dispersed and less centralized so they don't put all their eggs in one basket.
Actually I bought the tank bag in 2006 or so this it is from the 21st Century although UV has taken its toll.

Today I removed the gear shift and side stand cover. What a pain. The mechanic who did the tranny recall decided to slather the bolt with thread locker. Once I get the bolts started, removal still required a wrench, for every last thread. The threads where all gummed up with the thread locker. I used a tap and die to clean up the threads, cleaned up the area, inspected the shift linkage and put it all back together with minimal blue locktite and tightened them about 50%-65% of the recommended torque.
Toter and I think the same way. Earlier this month I got to thinking my motorcycle tank bag is in good shape physically but is terribly discolored to the point of being ugly. I looked a replacing it but at $150-350 to replaced something that is still functional is a hard sell. Now if someone feels real sorry for me I have a PayPal account!
Seriously do you have some suggestion on ring locking type tank bags?

I have used the SWMotech line quite a bit. Overall thumbs up with a few issues. Givi system looks good too. Better than SWMotech? Perhaps. I haven't used the Givi personally.
When you get a new style ring-style tankbag I got dibs on your old Yammie magnetic one!

If all the zippers and things work, you can use some spray dye to darken the faded fabric. I used it on a faded GIVI small magnetic tank bag , and it worked well. I'll look and see what it is.

I have one of the SW-MOTECH WP City bags. Nice for trips and the SW SW-MOTECH Micro bag for day rides. They switch from FJR to GSA in seconds.

Fontanaman,
Unless the bag has paper stiffening walls inside, try black RIT fabric dye, in a large pot of boiling water.
Wave the flame of a butane lighter (the blowtorch type) at any frayed or shredded places.
I have also been known to use black Magic Marker on faded/ torn/ discolored spots.
HTH.

I've got the Givi, and unlike their customer service, I've been very happy with the bag. I got it for free from a friend who bought a bike that came with it and he doesn't use bags. All I had to buy was the ring. I tried it on my GSXS1000 but it was too big and interfered with the bars so it's lived on the FJR ever since. Pops on and off easily and the quality is very good. I've never tried the SWMotech one but I'd imagine they function the same.
