Continued maintenance on the 2022. Suspension cleaned and lubed, bolts flipped and swingarm back on. Reversed bolt nuts are close to exhaust, shouldn't rattle on exhaust but dang it's close. Everything from this initial clean and lube should be done by weekend then brake and clutch flush. Spark Plugs to complete this years PM work. I have 22k on the bike so next big activity is the valve check at some point.

FWIW, NGK does NOT recommend the use of anti-seize on their sparkplugs... I used to use it but don't anymore. Haven't had a problem either way and haven't used a torque wrench. YMMV
Yes, and when using anti-seize one must reduce the torque by something like 20%. There are tables with exact numbers. Lubrication allows greater tension in the threads for same amount of torque. So while you are not twisting it as tight, it is as tight.
That's OK where you have a normal fastener..... in the case of spark plugs, you are torquing only enough to partially crush the crush washer and not straining threads to anywhere near their failure point.

This set was ordered from Amazon; same as the set from 2023, and 2018 before that. Picture below is 2 of the old ones and the 4 new ones (right before I removed the caps).

Where did you buy the NGK spark plug? Widespread reports of counterfeit NGK spark plugs being sold on eBay and Amazon.
The next question, "Was it 'Sold by Amazon', 'Fulfilled by Amazon', or a 3rd party via Amazon?"
How did I miss this post. Thanks for sharing this. I had no idea there's been counterfeit plugs out there. This is really too bad. Of all things, now we have to worry about fake plugs hurting our engines. Jeese what's next.
Got the bike out of hibernation and worked on some little stuff. Did the barbarian mod and adjusted CO settings, cleaned up some wiring for the Apple CarPlay unit I installed, and checked the air filter. Overall, ready to ride now.

Brings back memories as I had an 06 I bought new. Also seem to remember adding a G2 throttle tube with less abrupt ramp, releasing one turn off the throttle return spring, and adding a Throttle Meister throttle lock.
I spent most of my money on guns, motorcycles, women, and whiskey. The rest I just wasted!

It’s not the worst throttle I’ve had on a motorcycle but it definitely needed some improvement. I am debating on an Ivan’s tune.

I have had an 09 and a 17, both Raven Black. I covered both with film to protect the paint. Today I rolled the FJR into the work que in my garage. All the parts came in so I need to find some free time. I have been caring for my wife post surgery so free time is less; as it should be. She is recovering well.
Hey one good thing about the Gen 4's is it dors not need those fancy iridium plugs. I checked the plugs in waiting and they didn't exhibit counterfeit characteristics. Thanks for to Ross for that. I have never used anti seize on my plugs and now thanks to the forum never will.

Yes but what I clumsily said was that the torque to crush the washer and form a seal is less when threads are lubricated with anti-seize. Is just as tight but the torque is less. Too easy to confuse the torque-to-turn with the resulting tension/compression.
After a 2,300 mile journey from Phoenix to Florida I dropped off one of my FJRs in Orlando today at a logistics company. A 2009 I acquired a few years ago in non-running condition. The one I've been furiously working on to get ready. It will soon be loaded onto a container destination Germany!
Arrived at the logistics company!
HMIC Stefan Knopf and my FJR after removing windshield, disconnecting battery, and packing it up with stuff.
They are shipping about 70 bikes from the USA to Germany this time around!
