When I traded my ‘17 FJR in on the 1300GS it had a RDL seat, a SW-Motech tank bag and a laundry list of farkles.
The sales manager straight exchanged (no cash) the RDL seat for a stock unit to a person who wanted the RDL seat..Yesterday I discovered that the tank ring for the SW-Motech tank bag had been removed ..and was missing, which makes the bag useless..
I loved that bike..I hate to see it treated that way.
Damn! I wish I had known that they would swap out the RDL! I would have made you a decent offer.
I guess they had no idea...

I thought that they would understand the value of the RDL…clearly they are stupid.
Finally got around to wiring up my STS turn signal. Now I got to figure out how and where to mount it! Many thanks to JohnD and Design Flaw for their detailing of their install...should make the final step a lot easier!

Clearly your mistaken in your assumption. What you stated was fact. The person who didn't capitalize on the sale was you . I've never seen an RDL last longer than a day or two for sale here.

I'm a big engine braker as well. I never got more than 6K on any set of tires on my '14 FJR. PR4GT was the best longevity for me, and that entire tire was exclusively run in Touring Mode.
Uhhhh..... You never had a '14 FJR my age-challenged friend. You had a '13. And Touring mode is for pussies!

My first time trading a bike in at a stealership…It was too cold in my garage to strip all the farkles off…so I didnt, thinking that it would affect trade-in value, and on top of that I forgot all about Ross wanting the RDL…

Being in Touring mode doesn't matter if the throttle is pinned. JSNS.

How cold does it have to be to not remove a seat from an FJR? It's like only one step harder than a gixxer.

Yesterday, washed and waxed it. It hadn’t been washed in a long time.
Today, I didn’t start music in my monitors when I left the garage. I launched waze and the valentine app, and listened to the yoshimuras scream. It was glorious.

I honestly thought that the RDL seat added trade-in value to the bike…I was naive and wrong.
Yea, when it comes to dealers, they don't care about any upgrades you have done. In fact, when it comes to cars they'd prefer them to be a stock as possible. The majority of buyers don't see the value in upgrades, and they figure if someone did upgrades, then they probably (likely anyway) screwed it up somehow. I've picked up some cars that had some nice hop up parts for cheaper than similar stock vehicles.

You're spot on with this. I had almost 16 years part time at a Harley dealership and even accessories that we had sold and installed a customer was lucky to get back 25-30% of what they had spent when trading in. There were bikes where we actually pulled stuff off and returned to stock to make bikes easier to sell. Sadly in the Harley market customers often just kept repeating their same mistakes bike after bike and I don't just mean buying another Harley.

Dealer pretty much has to pull the accessories off a used Harley-Davidson else the new owner won't have any excuse to come back and decorate his bike with new accessories.
Car dealers seem to do the same thing. I got a pair of wonderful folding side steps that fit in front of rear wheels under the bed of my F-150 from a mechanic at a dealership. Sales manager told him to take them off and do whatever he wanted with them. $400/each new, I got the pair for $100.

Vehicles, especially Jeeps and Harleys, are like Mr. Potato Head. Who would want a Mr. Potato Head that was already put together? Most of us prefer an "unmolested" vehicle.
I watch home shows on TV and see people demolish perfectly functional rooms just to change the color and fittings. Seems like a waste of time and money, to me.
If I sell something with farkles, it's out of pure laziness. Too lazy to take them off and don't really care. Just want it gone.

Not me, I like finding the dirt bike or other vehicle that someone spent a ton of money to fix up and then sell with minimal miles on it and only one or two years old thus losing tons of money in the process, all for my gain.
Of course, then there's the folks with the 6 year old vehicle with 100K miles on it that want you to pay MSRP of the vehicle plus actual cost of all the add ons. I keep on scrolling when those guys pop up.
