Re: Is The FJR1300 Dead? No 2025 Model?
The Tenere 700 is just flat out not a touring bike.
I have the MT09 with the older version of the triple. That 847cc is a very smooth engine. It has plenty of power in the lower gears. I am sure the newer engine is improved. I could probably live with that engine on a sport/touring bike, but I think the platform is just too small. Maybe when I get 80 years old I will move off an FJR on to a Tracer.
No problem for me. I only put 10k a year on the FJR. It might just out last me.

I love guessing correct. Notice I didn’t say I was right, that would have meant I was willing to bet more than a dollar or a donut.Cav47 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 11:52 pmSkooterG wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 5:28 pmCav47 wrote: ↑Mon Nov 04, 2024 3:30 pm Chicken Little talk.
They have been tardy before on announcements. What do you consider Tardy? I believe all announcements for the last 5+ years have come in November. Mama Yama has some other more pressing issues. We are in their loyalty pocket. I see where you pushed out some exact data later. Well done, but a week late is no biggie in the scheme of things. They get us talking and on the edge of our seats.
All manufactures would take advantage of a final year model. The bean counters are too involved to let a $$$ opportunity to go by the wayside on a model that has a strong following. Strong following??? I get what you are saying but I am not sure you realize how slow a seller the FJR has been for many years now..... Yamaha still makes money off parts and they put very little into R/D. I bet the profit is higher than some models given what they have to put into them. No significant retooling or factory costs. You make a good point, they don't sell a lot of them, but has anyone gotten a confirmed steal on a brand new one lately?
I would also offer that many of the left over 23s they are selling at a discount is similar to the 15s they discounted right before (and after) a new-ish model 16 came out. They were selling 15A models for $9,999 as I recall. They had dealerships buy them speculativley just to try and get rid of them. There were plenty of deals out there as I was ready to buy an A model before I found my slightly used ES.
They have an inventory and will not get stuck with it. Me for one would be interested in a Brand New one if they were talking seriously about ending the run in ernest, but they are not, so I will just hang tight and see what my options are.
Dollar to a donut they "announce" no change in a few weeks. Or maybe a slight update, hence they are liquidating the 23s they had in reserve. Any takers? I can just about guarantee there will be no 'slight update'. Based on my keen intellect and extensive wisdom there will be three possibilities when it comes to the FJR in the next few years: 1) No FJR at all. Break for a year or goes away permanently, quietly. 2) Same FJR as since 2016 with the possibility of color change. 3) The Final Edition FJR when Yamaha announces it is officially done. I am gonna go with option 2. Maybe it will be Artic White/Pearl Blizzard. I will write the check. I think we all can recognize your true Yamaha fan status and even some inside info at times, but you are a long way down the covert product release food chain. LOL. I hope you are way wrong and they keep pumping/trickling out the machine. Can we just get some better colors? How about another Red, White, or Black/Gold version? Maybe you can talk to Yoshihiro Hidaka. That is unless his daughter doesn't slash him with a knife again. He prob was going to announce the new model before she went full katana on him. Crazy daughters.......who knew.
Some of the other prognosticators were a little premature. I heard they have pills or creams for that, but I wouldn’t know. lol.
I often have found myself when I was not looking, nor did that discovery take place where I thought it would!

But, on the flip side. Those transformers don't get totaled when you drop them in a gravel lot and break a mirror stay, and scratch up panels and bags. How can you deny the beauty of these bikes, unless you look at the 25 version.Festus wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 12:56 pm And stop making them all look like transformers! I wasn’t even thinking about that bike Ed. I was thinking about all the new Yamaha stuff in 2025.
That photo seems like the BMW is leaking like a Harley
I’m only kidding. I love BMW bikes. I’ll be spending some time on the 2025 S1000RR in the spring.

Legos is what all the BMW lovers are saying about the 25 GSA. Legos and toasters. I will admit that new GSA is fugly, The GS, don't like the headlight, but other than that it's OK. The GSA's have never been sexy, but they looked purposeful.

Re: Is The FJR1300 Dead? No 2025 Model?
Copied over my post in the other sandbox....
Well, OK. I guess we'll interpret that as no more FJR in the US? Very faint hope for 2026..... meanwhile, the FJR is long gone in the EU, but it is hanging on in Canada and Australia. Kinda strange because I doubt they sell 100 a year in Canada.... I'm going to keep an eye out for a 2025 and see what the actual build date is, in case they are leftovers (however I don't think that's legal).
Skooter, I can only suggest you use your 'merican dollars to buy one up here and import it when slightly used... you know, I'll "store" it for you and make sure it gets the proper XXXX mile service..... C$ list is $21,600 plus 13% tax minus around 30-35% fer yer dollars. However, I'd wait until very late 2025 before pulling the trigger.
I offered that to a gent on a Suzuki DR650, when the list prices were the same on both sides of the border a coupla years ago.... never saw that before.

I’ve heard importing bikes from Canada isn’t the easiest or cheapest thing to do once it’s all legal in the USA. Any confirmation or negating of that?

I would think import taxes and duties could make it unattractive. As well as DOT and EPA requirements. Not sure if they are different in Canada.
