Who knows? The last several years Yamaha has always updated their website for the next year's FJR1300 on Monday or Tuesday of the first week in November.
I was not accurate with the above statement. Here are the announce dates for the last five model years of FJR:
MY 2024: Announced 11/7/23 Tuesday
MY 2023: Announced 11/8/22 Tuesday
MY 2022: Announced 11/22/21 Monday
MY 2021: Announced 11/17/20 Tuesday
MY 2020: Announced 11/3/19 Sunday (Weird that it came on a Sunday. But the announcement was from show in Europe where they announced last year of the FJR there)

I’m not certain it makes a difference, really. We all know it’s a matter of time, so either you have one or you don’t. It would be a sad day when Yamaha officially stops production though.

Chicken Little talk.
They have been tardy before on announcements. What do you consider Tardy? I believe all announcements for the last 5+ years have come in November. Mama Yama has some other more pressing issues. We are in their loyalty pocket. I see where you pushed out some exact data later. Well done, but a week late is no biggie in the scheme of things. They get us talking and on the edge of our seats.
All manufactures would take advantage of a final year model. The bean counters are too involved to let a $$$ opportunity to go by the wayside on a model that has a strong following. Strong following??? I get what you are saying but I am not sure you realize how slow a seller the FJR has been for many years now..... Yamaha still makes money off parts and they put very little into R/D. I bet the profit is higher than some models given what they have to put into them. No significant retooling or factory costs. You make a good point, they don't sell a lot of them, but has anyone gotten a confirmed steal on a brand new one lately?
I would also offer that many of the left over 23s they are selling at a discount is similar to the 15s they discounted right before (and after) a new-ish model 16 came out. They were selling 15A models for $9,999 as I recall. They had dealerships buy them speculativley just to try and get rid of them. There were plenty of deals out there as I was ready to buy an A model before I found my slightly used ES.
They have an inventory and will not get stuck with it. Me for one would be interested in a Brand New one if they were talking seriously about ending the run in ernest, but they are not, so I will just hang tight and see what my options are.
Dollar to a donut they "announce" no change in a few weeks. Or maybe a slight update, hence they are liquidating the 23s they had in reserve. Any takers? I can just about guarantee there will be no 'slight update'. Based on my keen intellect and extensive wisdom there will be three possibilities when it comes to the FJR in the next few years: 1) No FJR at all. Break for a year or goes away permanently, quietly. 2) Same FJR as since 2016 with the possibility of color change. 3) The Final Edition FJR when Yamaha announces it is officially done. I am gonna go with option 2. Maybe it will be Artic White/Pearl Blizzard. I will write the check. I think we all can recognize your true Yamaha fan status and even some inside info at times, but you are a long way down the covert product release food chain. LOL. I hope you are way wrong and they keep pumping/trickling out the machine. Can we just get some better colors? How about another Red, White, or Black/Gold version? Maybe you can talk to Yoshihiro Hidaka. That is unless his daughter doesn't slash him with a knife again. He prob was going to announce the new model before she went full katana on him. Crazy daughters.......who knew.

And you'll still find low mileage examples for quite a while from folks who thought they'd ride one and never did.

I'd find it interesting if Yamaha is bowing out of the big sport touring scene because ADV bikes have killed the segment, when right now, one of the biggest ADV manufacturers, KTM, has just announced their GT verison of the 1390 SuperDuke. Surely there's still some life left in the big engine grand touring/sport touring segment.

I think they should do a mash of the FJR and S10 making a direct competitor to the R1300GS/GSA. They need the right engine, but proven Yamaha reliability, dealer network and pricing should be a big plus over some of the competition.
Take a couple of years off and re-introduce a new model to replace both their Adventure and Sport-touring flagships.
I know it's all going to the C3 engine for Yamaha and that's the one in the R9 and MT-09, but someone, somewhere, at some point, needs to picture having good size bags on them with a passenger. I'm sure the MT-09 is a lot of fun but it's not going to be a touring bike if you can't take someone with you or enough stuff to last you the length of your trip.
It's pushing me closer to the BMW S1000XR more than anything else.

Especially since the competition is getting easier. No ST1300 or Concours 14 - the direct competitors to the FJR around anymore.

Yuck. The right engine being key. As much as I really like my BMW GSA, I LOVE my FJR with the smooth inline four, and better wind protection. That's just why I can't picture a mile-munching ST moto having a twin. The Super Tenere is a fine moto, but to me that engine felt like a 1950s tractor motor - much worse refinement than my BMW.

Doesn't have to be a twin - triples have some promise and Yamaha can do better than the S10 motor. Likewise with wind protection.
It would have to be a ground-up new design with intent to compete with the BMW GS. Anyway, I'm not holding my breath and the current bikes Yamaha has listed in "Touring" (Ténéré 700 and Tracer 9) are of zero interest as tourers although the T7 makes a decent "Adventure" bike.
Even though it is a smaller moto perhaps not well-suited for the center of the country, I think I would really like the Tracer 7 GT that they sell in Europe. It would be a great local moto for me. It's been a few years, but while I liked the CP3 triples I rode, I absolutely loved the light weight and engine character of the Yamaha CP2 twin FZ-07/Tracer 7. Give me the better ergos, additional features, and better weather protection of the Tracer 7 GT!
Here is one that was at the same hotel as us in Austria in 2023.

And stop making them all look like transformers! Go back and put some lines on your bikes. The one thing I'll give the FJR is the lines are flat out sexy. All these transformers have no lines. It should flow and be beautiful, not look like a lego set (in my opinion). But, that's what they are pumping out everywhere now.
