Is The FJR1300 Dead? No 2025 Model?

Post by SkooterG »

There has been no information on any year model of the FJR 1300 on Yamaha's website all morning long. At least on my phone mobile version. There is an announcement that says they have announced all remaining 2025 lineup changes. So this to me looks like the FJR is now dead. And that I was completely wrong about them coming out with a last edition black and gold version. I find this very disappointing that Yamaha couldn't give the North America market a proper send off like they did for Europe and Japan markets.

I hope I am wrong and this is just a temporary website glitch.

I'll believe it when I see some kind of announcement that it is not coming back. Maybe it shows up again later with no changes.
Although I wouldn't be surprised if it finally came to an end either. But that leaves Yamaha without any serious touring motorcycle in the lineup.

I think they consider the Tracer 9 their serious touring model. Not that I agree with that.

I agree that it's odd that there's no word at all. Perhaps there will be something forthcoming. Like I said, hopefully I'm wrong. It's just odd that there's no information. They've never done anything like this before.

It seems they have a 2025 FJR1300 on the Canadian Yamaha website. (With no changes of course) Perhaps Yamaha is just really slow today for the USA website. Or they are taking a one-year pause in production to sell off all the unsold inventory?

There's a big show motorcycle show going in Italy right now with a lot of major announcements coming out from various manufacturers. I'm guessing that everyone's focus right now is what's being released to the EU market. If it's coming for 2025, they probably won't mention it at the show since it's not relative to the market the show is there for. Just my guess.

Who knows? The last several years Yamaha has always updated their website for the next year's FJR1300 on Monday or Tuesday of the first week in November. Have you gone to Yamaha's USA website? They've updated every model for 2025. Conspicuously missing is the FJR1300 and the Super Tenere which was on their website as of this past Friday or Saturday.

Odd the super Tenere is missing. Doesn't it sell well?

Also, you can't search for prior year models. You know they still have some on several models.

Kind of wonder. It's the 1300cc models missing. Emission requirements get them?

I bet there is another update coming.

Chicken Little talk.

They have been tardy before on announcements.

All manufactures would take advantage of a final year model. The bean counters are too involved to let a $$$ opportunity to go by the wayside on a model that has a strong following.

I would also offer that many of the left over 23s they are selling at a discount is similar to the 15s they discounted right before (and after) a new-ish model 16 came out. They were selling 15A models for $9,999 as I recall. They had dealerships buy them speculativley just to try and get rid of them. There were plenty of deals out there as I was ready to buy an A model before I found my slightly used ES.

They have an inventory and will not get stuck with it. Me for one would be interested in a Brand New one if they were talking seriously about ending the run in ernest, but they are not, so I will just hang tight and see what my options are.

Dollar to a donut they "announce" no change in a few weeks. Or maybe a slight update, hence they are liquidating the 23s they had in reserve. Any takers?

I don't know if I agree with the strong following statement. You don't see many in dealerships, whereas the ADV bikes and naked street fighters are lined up like cord wood. 2015 was almost 10 years ago, I think the market has changed quite a bit since then. I don't know what they're planning, but if Suzuki brings out an updated DRZ400 with F.I., six speed gearbox, and 21st century styling, anything is possible.

Fuddy-duddies!!!

Yes, usually started by an idiot. I am not an idiot. I may be dumb, but I ain't stoopid! :finger:

This is the time of year when the perennial question gets resolved. But, Yamaha has done something different than I ever remember them doing.

I am usually on top of this stuff checking the Yamaha website daily knowing that this is the time of year they announce the next model year of the FJR1300. In the past, in every instance I can remember -which is many; their website stays the same until the day it updates. Well, something different happened today. It may mean something. Or nothing. But is good fodder for speculation!

When I checked the Yamaha website this past Friday or Saturday all was normal. There was an 'Adventure' section that showed the Super Tenere and the Tenere 700. And the 'Touring' section which showed the FJR, Tracer 9, and I am fairly certain the Tracer 9 GT+ as a separate model. Well, as of this morning there is no 'Adventure' section. The Tenere 700 is in the 'Touring' section (WTF?) and there is also just the Tracer 9. And of course no Super Tenere or FJR listed. This is not how Yamaha has ever done it in the past. Especially not showing the '23/'24 FJR which is still available.

Now, you can find the Yamaha page for the '23/'24 FJR if you google it: https://yamahamotorsports.com/models/23_fjr1300es
Also odd.

Also, updated on the USA website today is this section that states today Yamaha announced the remainder of their 2025 motorcycle line-up. (Noticeably missing the FJR and Super Tenere): https://www.yamahamotorsports.com/Blogs ... -new-mt-07

Another point: In the past, I am almost completely certain that Canadian and USA Yamaha website has updated and announced the new model year FJR on the SAME day. But not today. Yamaha Canada is showing the 2025 FJR1300. Interestingly enough it has the same 'Adventure' and 'Touring' sections that Yamaha USA had two days ago.

So, in my not so humble opinion we have two possibilities: 1) Yamaha USA is doing something they have never done before by changing the website with incomplete information and the 2025 FJR will be announced sometime in the near future. Or, 2) There will be no 2025 FJR. That might be permanently, or skipping a year which I think is feasible - especially with no announcement it is ending and it being available in Canada. There is a LOT of 2023 and 2024 FJR inventory out there still. I guess not in Canada. Let it slide a year to get rid of the inventory and come back in 2026. Or maybe a 2025 and a half? I still hold out that Yamaha will do what they did in the only two markets (Europe and Japan (that I am aware of)) where they discontinued the FJR: Make a big deal about it and release the last edition Black and Gold model.

I thought what was happening on the website was odd this morning but I normally wouldn't have posted anything because of all the normal 'No more FJR' B.S.. But I went listening for some song birds. The song birds, smart as they are, know when to keep their beak shut! However, they did sing just a little bit to the effect of "The website is as its supposed to be' and 'I wouldn't hold my breath' (on the 2025 FJR? Black and Gold Final Edition? - I don't know.....) That is when I figured it was Prime Time to start some most excellent speculation on the 2025 FJR and rile up the natives! Also, before (stoopidly) I checked the Canadian Yamaha website to see that the '25 FJR will be up north.......

They have been tardy before on announcements. What do you consider Tardy? I believe all announcements for the last 5+ years have come in November.

All manufactures would take advantage of a final year model. The bean counters are too involved to let a $$$ opportunity to go by the wayside on a model that has a strong following. Strong following??? I get what you are saying but I am not sure you realize how slow a seller the FJR has been for many years now.....

I would also offer that many of the left over 23s they are selling at a discount is similar to the 15s they discounted right before (and after) a new-ish model 16 came out. Dollar to a donut they "announce" no change in a few weeks. Or maybe a slight update, hence they are liquidating the 23s they had in reserve. Any takers? I can just about guarantee there will be no 'slight update'. Based on my keen intellect and extensive wisdom there will be three possibilities when it comes to the FJR in the next few years: 1) No FJR at all. Break for a year or goes away permanently, quietly. 2) Same FJR as since 2016 with the possibility of color change. 3) The Final Edition FJR when Yamaha announces it is officially done.

Emissions has nothing to do with the North American market. It meets those emissions requirements. The FJR disappeared in the two markets where emissions requirements got tougher and it could not meet them: Europe (2020), and Japan (2022).

There is no update coming. The FJR is a dinosaur on it's way to extinction as far as Yamaha is concerned. The Tracer 9 gets all R+D $$$$ and focus and energy going forward for Yamaha.
