Partzilla is usually higher. Yamahapartshouse.com has a full set of OEM front and rear for $166.35 and free shipping. For that small a difference, I might go OEM. The OEM seem effective, and last quite well. C'est la vie.

Walked it out of the garage for the pre-flight inspection. Sunshine, severe clear, 72 degrees this afternoon. Time to heat up the sidewalls of these RS4s.

Installed 8 nice new brake pads in the front calipers of the FJR. Ready for a ride to SEO on Saturday, a ride to my friends house in Tennessee on Wednesday, and on to EOM on Thursday.

Trust me - once the weather does cool down, you will only wonder why you waited so long to get those heated gloves.
I just keep mine under the seat and when I need it, I just put between and seat and the gas tank. Easy peasy. So…waisted my time but got a new wire that I will complain about “I dont like it there…no not there either..dont like that”.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Today rode the FJR 230 miles. Here are a couple of photos.
On a free ferry today.
After the first ferry ride a black bear crossed the road. Lucky me to see it.
Here is a photo of my Dunlop RS4 rear tire at 6500 miles. Why is there a line in the center of the tire that goes all the way around the tire? Also the wear bar is visible next to my finger leading me to believe the tire is not quite toast yet.

Well the line is called an antenna tread. Nothing to worry about. I will use the wear bar and change the tire when the wear bar is nearly gone. Right now I am doing day rides. I figure this tire as 500-750 miles to go.

Yes, I have seen this before on a fairly new tire. Was a little scary. I thought the tire was separating.fontanaman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 9:50 pm Well the line is called an antenna tread. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
From this artcile: https://www.revzilla.com/common-tread/a ... Wu3CtUe99i
That line has nothing to do with the surface you were riding on. Furthermore, it’s totally normal and nothing to be concerned with. It’s called “antenna tread” and it’s a conductive band of rubber that helps disperse static electricity as you ride so you don’t get a shock when you step off the bike.
Antenna tread is common on automotive and motorcycle tires, though usually it's too faint see. However, some brands and models have more apparent lines than others.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
7000 on the rear is what I'm hoping for. That would put me at 25-ish% more than an RS3. If that happens, I think I'm going to stay with that tire because I really like the way it handles.fontanaman wrote: ↑Fri Sep 13, 2024 9:50 pm Well the line is called an antenna tread. Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
I rode it over to SEO for a little over 200 miles. Nice morning ride on 9, 26, 800, 255, 536, 78, and 556. It was great, but this morning I'm having lower back issues again. I worked at a local winery last night and had to stand for 6 hours. Hard to stand up without pain. With degenerative disks and arthritis trying to get me down. Time for heat, stretching and cold. So fun!

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
The wife needed to work so I took the mistress (feejer) to breakfast. First we updated the firmware in her CarPlay/nav. She is liking the new shoes I got her so we did some dancing on the way to breakfast but nothing too rowdy. We just liked spending the time together. She isn't liking the trip planning software we tried (calimoto). Two miles from our destination it crashed and tried to send us off course to ....I am not sure where it was trying to send us to be honest...almost as if it was trying to send us into Lake Michigan. We just sat looking there for a while (no boats coming in and out) and then talked to some locals. She got a nice compliment when they were telling me a good local place to eat. (Windmill Restaurant in Holland, MI...cinnamon role was really good...hashbrown omelet was good...I wouldn't say the best though). It was a little warm on the way home but she kept her cool. The mean mean woman (wife) was home when I got back so just gave her a quick bath and told her I was going to look for some better routing software. I only ever used a GPS to get me home so this is something new for the two of us. She isn't liking the tar and chipping they are doing so our skirt (fender) extender is coming in tomorrow.

Re: What did you do to your FJR today?
Rode it 300 miles with the local BMW riders. I now have 6800 miles on the Dunlop RS4s.
While in stop and go traffic this morning the ABS light lit up. About 3 minutes later I touch the rear brake and the ABS light turned off and remained off the rest of the day. Yippie skippy.

About 575 miles between yesterday and today. FJRoss came to see me and we had a good time ripping the New Hampshire curves.

Check yer wheel sensors are corrosion-free and not bridging. Check yer rear brake pedal is not sticking or you inadvertently pressing it.....fontanaman wrote: ↑Tue Sep 17, 2024 8:53 pm Rode it 300 miles with the local BMW riders. I now have 6800 miles on the Dunlop RS4s.
